It is a fair point, Ruiz has been on a splurge, meeting mexican president, eating taco's, chilling out, ordering bentleys...
I think he might not be to motivated, because he went from the bottom to the top real fast.

We'll see what happens though, I still back AJ.

History favors AJ. Winners of historical HW upsets tend to unravel very quickly. He's living it up and AJ won't be taking him lightly like in the first fight.

Buster's way to go out is still better as disappearing for 2½ years and getting a backdated ban.

That's ok, they'll just replace Andy Ruiz with Dustin "the worm" Nicols.
    Nobody would notice the switcheroo.

Yeah, Douglas and Rahman were KO'ed in the very next fights, Sanders was stopped. Douglas and Sanders came to the fights against Holyfield and Vitali respectively in much worse shape than they were when they shocked the world. Rahman wasn't in bad shape physically for Lewis rematch, but mentally he looked extremely weird. When Shane Mosley came into his dressing room before the fight Rahman looked nervous and unfocused simultaneously.

Yeah he is losing credibility by the millisecond on this forum, he is irritatingly contradictory with everything he utters.

I remember him talking up Prince Charles only to completely trash him post the Joshua loss.

Inconsistency is Fury's nature. One can only imagine how he was on drugs.

I see the anti-Fury brigade are out in force. Of course his previous comments were made shortly after the victory so how was he to know Ruiz was not going to train? Obviously he has seen that Ruiz has made no progress since winning and adjusted his view. Perfectly normal and rational thing to do based on available evidence at the time.

This just proves that Fury is a total idiot. One day he says one thing and next day something else.
    His resume is total trash:
Old and slow Wlad, Chisora and...
    That's it I guess.
Also, he had to come back from the dead to get a draw vs Wilder, who can't box at all.
    All talk no action.

    https://www.ringnews24.com/2019/08/...ther-andy-ruiz-jr-is-the-next-buster-douglas/

Here is the article for anyone who wants to read it and have a valid opinion rather than just wading in saying the first thing that comes to mind. I think he is referencing recent revelations about Andy's spending and his own downfall after beating Klitscko. I was thinking exactly the same as Fury this week actually with all the pictures circulating of Andy's recent spending spree.

“I’d like to give you a prediction, but the thing is we don’t know how Ruiz is training. We don’t know how this newfound fame and newfound fortune have changed the man’s life,” Fury said during ESPN’s boxing telecast on Saturday.

“Is Andy Ruiz Jr the second coming of Buster Douglas… had his big shot and didn’t back it up in the rematch? We’ll never know and until he’s in there.”

Buster Douglas famously dethroned undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson by 10th round knockout in Japan in 1990.

Despite the 40-1 underdog becoming the first man to beat Tyson, he was unable to regain the form he showed that night, losing the world championship to Evander Holyfield by KO3 in his very first title defence.

“Until [Ruiz Jr] starts showing us that he’s going to take it seriously and be in the gym and train and stop living like a movie star or a superstar because he won one fight…I know he’s not training right now,” Fury added.

The self-styled ‘Gypsy King’ delivered a backhanded compliment to arch-nemesis Deontay Wilder, who will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Luis Ortiz in November.

Ortiz is 49 years old. He’s on his last legs. I think Wilder does him inside of six rounds,” he said.
