Well it's worse than that, Fitzsimmons as near as can be certain made 152 in 1891 for Dempsey. He was late twenties for that one.

Fitz wrote "Physical Culture and Self Defense " I have read parts of it. Its an excellent manual on boxing that includes photos. Fitz was years ahead of his time. Many of the principles are still valid 100 years after the fact.

Excellent stuff. Some of the exercises look a bit like occidental Tai Chi!

    Yep.
He was inexplicably big for his weight.

I don't know what he weighs here but he looks more than a middleweight :

That's his weak skinny side. All his size was on his back.

(Cue Seamus enter the thread with "You're all gay" remark.)

You're welcome. Fitzsimmons was a once in a generation type of fighter.

A blow by blow description can be found in Pollack's bio of Fitzsimmons. He nearly killed Ruhlin.

Has Pollack released an expanded version of his Fitz biography or a volume 2 because all mine says about the Ruhlin fight is … 1900 KO6 Ruhlin.

My copy of the book effectively ends when Fitz beats Corbett for the title in 1897 and no other fight of his after Corbett is covered.

Ruhlin looks huge next to Fitz. He had long reach and looks in very good condition.
