Calzaghe could stand in the pocket with other fighters & not get hit much this was a strength for Joe. @ SM he is a ATG & would have beat Ward.
Amazing fighter but spent the vast majority of his career fighting sub par opposition therefore hurting his legacy and how the boxing world will remember him.
Super high work rate. Superb stamina. High IQ, ability to adapt. Great Chin. Unparalleled recovery abilities. Made most fight his fight. Great combinations. Best win: Prime Kessler and Hopkins (Hops when on to beat Pavlik, Dawson, Pascal all close to their prime so Hops was still considered a great win regardless of his age). One of the best at SMW
ATG SMW. Without question. One of the best British fighters of all time. Without question. Should have stepped up and fought the American elites years earlier. Without question. One of my absolute favourites and a truly gifted freak of an athlete. Great to watch when he had a decent opponent. Show me another light punching SMW who dominated like he did. Beast.
The best 168lb to 175lb to walk the planet . 46-0 there is no blueprint. The only man who could hope to best GGG.
HerolGee must be gutted he asked to be banned. He'd be nursing a semi over the topic of this thread...
100% a great fighter. Personally, not my cup though. Amazing ability to adapt and amazing cardio. Could be dropped but always got back up and shook it off. A total plane crash in terms of punching form -- to the point that it was ****ing offensive and a slap in the face to proper form. I dont know if that's the reason I never warmed up to him or if it was because he beat one of my idols(Jeff Lacy) so bad. I give him his due but I'd never go and rewatch a fight of his.
The dirty rhythm spoiling style of guys like Ward and Hopkins doesn't work on Calzaghe. Although SOB would probably take his dirty tactics to another level in an attempt to level the playing field. Wouldn't work though. Calzaghe takes a SD in hostile territory.
