Wow! Didn't know about the test, though I remember the incident. If this is true, it's a very, very strong piece of evidence. Thanks for that piece of info.
So some how he couldnt even get his gloves on without getting caught in Mosley fight hit against Cotto he went threw all the same procedures plus the whole fight and after the fight undetected? LMAO Margarito and his trainer went from cheating masterminds to morons over night? And let me guess Paul Williams and Clottey have faces made out of steel cause some how they made it through 12 rounds of plaster punches Do you believe in the tooth fairy?
Probably because there was never any conclusive evidence that he cheated. If there had been a drug test after the fight, it would have provided concrete evidence of any shenanigans. We can see that something fishy was going on with the between rounds words of Panama Lewis, and the fact Pryor came out for the 14th round like he was jacked to high heaven - but, still, no undisputable evidence. On the other hand, we know for sure that Margarito's wraps were tampered with to make his hands harder.
What a dumb, pointless post. You should have at least read the articles I posted and watched the video before embarrassing yourself like that. But in case you're too lazy or butt hurt by people thinking mean things about Margarito, the main point is that Margarito and his team came *this* close to getting away with it in the Mosley fight too. Would have if it weren't for Nazim Richardson harassing them and being a stickler about some other unrelated wrapping violation. None of the neutral observers would have caught it And I don't think anybody has accused Margarito of using tampered wraps every fight.
the black bottle - hard to test back then but panama the same trainer to take the stuffing out of Louie Resto's gloves vs Collins (tragic)
No one who know anything about boxing and it's history would ever deny Lewis was a cheat and looked for every advantage for his fighter. BUT! It's not like Arguello was winning the 1st Pryor fight until the "Magic Bottle" incident. Arguello was behind on points , and Pryor had tasted some of Arguello's best power punches through out the fight with hardly a backwards step. The 1st 5 rds of that fight was just as hellish as the last 5. And Arguello was fresher yet he didn't drop Pryor. Pryor was a better Jr.welter, it is that simple. He isn't listed as a greater fighter, just a better jr.welter... Did the extra few pounds from lightweight to jr.welter lessen the impact from Arguello's punches? possibly but I'm sure Billy Costello would disagree if he was here to give testament .
Costello had a weak chin and was coming off a blowout loss to Lonnie Smith. He was damaged goods when he fought Arguello. Brillant matchmaking there by Arguello's team. Too bad he was diagnosed with a heart condition after the Costello fight, or he likely would have gotten another chance to win a 140 lb. title.
Lol at *this close* they caught the illegal wraps at literally the first possible moment they could. He didn't even get to finish 1 wrap on 1 hand never mind when the commission checks you once the gloves are on or the ref before the fight or the ref during the fight or the commission which goes to the locker room with you after the fight. Or even just after the fight when he's hugging and shaking hands with dozens of people including Cotto and his corner lol The people who claim anything other than he attempted to use illegal wraps in one fight against Mosley lack common sense and lack basic knowledge of boxing procedures. Lol so Cotto fans just conveniently think it just started against their guy?
What in the world are you talking about? His right hand was already wrapped and ready to go. Richardson made them unwrap it! (and one of the commission's observers initially denied his request). You should read up on the basic facts involved before having the audacity to act smug. No, Kermit Cintron said that Margarito's glove felt extra hard (like he could feel his fist through his glove) right after one of their fights. I posted a video but some mod deleted it, apparently. And as I also mentioned previously, the career-ending Golden Johnson first round knockout also looks suspect in hindsight. Lujan thinks Margarito cheated too, in the fight where Margarito almost severed his ear. I'm curious--what's your theory for why Margarito's punches were so clearly more devastating in some fights than others? And why did they decide to cheat for the first time against an old Mosley, who'd already lost to Cotto shortly before Margarito stopped Cotto?? And even if his team didn't cheat by loading his wraps in those fights, it still wouldn't be implausible to think they cheated against Cotto.
Calcium and Sulphur are pretty common in biology. It's really the level, not just presence that matters.
lol exactly he got caught while wrapping the first hand. Literally the 1st oppurtunity he could of been caught. You're saying that somehow he's been able to hide these wraps on both hands as the commission and someone from the opposing corner inspects ... hands hides them when they inspect his hands with the gloves on ... hide them when the ref inspects before and during the fight ... hide them when the commission inspect after the fight. Come on how could such cheating masterminds have not even be able to get 1 wrap on undetected? Lol the same reason every good puncher doesnt have 100% KO ratio. Cotto's punches were more devastating against some opponents than they were against Margarito? Does that mean he was using loaded wraps in all fights except Margarito? Its implausible to think anybody would get away with using loaded wrap
