Where does Gene Tunney rank ?

    That he was. Also fast, thought as nail, durable and with under rated power. Tunney had a keen boxing IQ, he was seldom in a bad spot.

    Tunney could very well have beaten Johnson, Louis or Marciano.

    to tell the truth, I dont think Gene could handle the concentrated attack of a young Mike Tyson

    He could pull a Quick Tillis. Tyson was great but his slower opens made him look even greater.

    At Lhw hes top 5 and a h2h king at that weight class. Great resume and great p4p skill.

    I dont rate him at hw at all because he wasn't one. He weighed less than 200 lbs and his only noteworthy hw credentials consists of 2 bouts with an inactive Dempsey (who was also on the small side). It doesnt help his case that one of the bouts was controversial (long count). When Michael Spinx and Bob Foster have deeper resumes than you at HW, that says a lot. Its illogical to have Tunney as a top 10 or even top 20 HW.
