The stock-in-trade of a boxing discussion really. They're all words I use, but I still find them cliched and annoying.

Nady was just chucked in for a laugh, but for real HE annoys me :D

No one annoys me here on the board...after all, it's just a boxing forum. But one thing that does come to mind....

Throw a hook while you're sliding out.

    Exposed.

    Robbed.

    Pound for pound.

"Iron chin", "granite chin", "titanium chin", and so on are very overused, too.

One of my personal pet peeves is the interchangeable use of "best" and "greatest". They aren't the same thing.

For me, it's overuse and overreliance on "prime."
Honest to God, it makes steam come out of my ears.

How many times haven't we heard the phrase "yah, but he was past his prime..." or "But that wasn't prime so-and-so."

It would seem a fighter is only in his "prime" as long as he's winning.

Some people go overboard with it. In some cases a fighter clearly isn't the same, but in other cases it's just people making excuses.

People who quote punch stats as if this somehow proves who was better or who won.

Nail on the head. The anger I have when I read this :fire

People have even started using it for fighters across weight classes! Calzaghe is ducking Pavlik... okay so one light heavyweight is ducking a middleweight :fire :fire :fire

Hey you're right Sal, this does feel better!

    :yep

    Fun thread this...

Maybe we can chuck 'bum' into the mix - "Marciano fought a bunch of bums."
    Classic example right there.

A lot of American comentators talk incessantly ,as though it is a radio broadcast ,and the audience needs a running commentary with each punch .

And we can add 'glass jaw' to that too.
