So what happened then? Team Ruiz backed down?

Essentially, it was in the contract that Matchroom had the authority to pick the location, Ruiz is getting paid more than the first fight (again as that was in the original contract) but not more than the contract stated. Essentially they tried negotiating extra pay and/or different location, MR responded by saying if they breach the contract they would start legal action that would keep Ruiz out of the ring for years and that would of course mean he get stripped of the titles and AJ would be in a good position to be mandatory. Ruiz team backed down but of course postured in the media.

Ruiz is really starting to annoy me now with his demands/diva ongoings.

Not to mention that stupid fat face of his. He looks like a simpleton.

Ideal world: Ruiz retires AJ, Wilder sparks Ruiz and Ruiz retires, Wilder sparks Fury and Fury retires, Wilder retires.

Don’t be so stupid mate. Clearly this was a victory for Haymon.

I don't really doubt that Hearn had the legal right to put the fight where he wanted given the existing contract, but if Haymon/Ruiz refused and this ended in court Hearn might have "won" the case but really lost because the titles would be stripped and fragmented. Hearn/Joshua want to unify the titles while I can easily see Ruiz dropping one or two of them if he wins. Haymon/Ruiz played on that and got the extra money.

So you’re saying THE Al Haymon was too scared to take on little ol Eddie from Brentwood ? Nah I don’t believe it , don’t do that to Al fanboys.

How can anyone dispute the fight was made on matchroom's terms. The venue was chosen by matchroom. Surely nobody believes team Ruiz demanded Saudi Arabia. The fight would have taken place in Cardiff if it wasn't for Arab money.

Two weeks Ago when the Saudi deal was announced Ruiz tweeted the fight was going to happen in USA. The fact it isn't tells you that he was locked into a contract which gave him no say in the venue.

There was a rematch clause which dictated AJ chooses the venue and date which is how it played out.

Ruiz always said he was fighting AJ next, it was just the Al Haymon fanboys who got excited somehow believing Ruiz was going to swerve a rematch.

The most important thing is the fight is on and that's what counts.

Interesting thanks for that. Why did Matchroom choose Saudi Arabia then if it was up to them? Purely financial reasons? If I were Matchroom and Team Joshua, I'd have gone for Cardiff to get as many marginal advantages as possible in my favour.

Let’s not act like Saudi was Matchroom’s preferred choice. 100% the best option for them would have been Cardiff. Ruiz has one demand here which was not to box in the UK and he got it.

    Exactly.
Brentwood Eddie would have loved nothing more than BBBoC territory, "special gloves" and a 2nd Matchroom fighter in the ring i.e. the ref.

As for people "hearing things from a mate". Give over. The fact you seem to think Joshua would have just had the belts handed back to him essentially if Ruiz got stripped says it all.

Lets go with real, world observable results shall we? The fight isn't in the UK.

Who said the belts would have been handed back ? All i said is Ruiz would have been kept out of the ring for a prolonged period. Surely you understand after a while the Governing organisations would grow weary of a champ that isnt bringing in money (especially @ HW), they would Strip and make mandatory fights (like Martin vs Glazkov), now if governing bodies are picking fighters to fight for their belts surely at least one or two pick AJ as he is the biggest draw (arguably) out there without a title and probably give him an easy pick as they want a golden goose ? You understand boxing right
