Kovalev isn't getting the respect and plaudits he deserves. Instead praise is heaped on Yarde for simply turning up and showing effort and heart. He truly silenced all the doubters tonight, while Yarde did show some courage in a stages, the star tonight was Sergey who took Yarde's best shots, stood tall, recovered and beat the boy down into submission. He put up with the dirty tricks, the gum shield time wasting and didn't let it distract from his gameplan. There were some saying that Kovalev wouldn't be dedicated, that he was going to be coming into the fight with whisky in his blood, distracted and unconditioned. Kovalev did more than silence the naysayers who questioned his profesionalism, his chin, along with Andre Ward who peddled this myth that he is some bully that can only dish out punishment but can't take it. At 36 years old, this man beat down a young man who was almost a decade younger and mercifully put those Lions in Camp to sleep.
KRUSHER is a great fighter, a true gem for the era. his power has gone down, his stamina down, he is vulnerable, but what skill and the best jab for a long long while. not many fighters are capable these days control fights with merely the jab!
