Agreed hattonmad, the majority on here agreed it was an insane jump in class for yarde and we were right ultimately so fingers should be pointed at his handlers imo.He got to the number 1 spot with the wbo without fighting a single person in the top 30...madness.
I feel for Yarde he is a tough and athletically talented guy , he showed bags of heart and he had his moment in the 7th . There was a great deal of positives about his performance but the doubts most contributors to this forum have about Tunde seem to be valid . Very few fighters have the reflex’s to box with a low left had against a decent jab merchant and even a 36 year old Kovalev was exploiting this. You have to be able to adapt and Yarde hasn’t been able to develop those skills and lets be fair he is a relative novice . I hope he can regroup get some decent development with learning fights.
I still believe he can become a World Champion, with a little work his power and chin could take him places.
PADIDAS!!! Lion in d owse!!! What a load of BS. Hitting pads at 100mph is BS and funny handshakes etc unless you actually fight through the levels. FW & Punnie his trainer need sacking for putting him in with a world level fighter after only just about beating up the whole quota of Euro taxi drivers. Loss deserved for being such twats!!!
99.9% of the LHW boxers in the World would have fared worse than Yarde, he's not a bum for gassing in the 11th and getting stopped.
If that was "one of the worst beatings you've seen in a long time" then you don't watch much boxing clearly. There were two rounds where it was a one-sided beating but even then it wasn't that bad. Again another OTT reaction but not a shock when this was one of your serious threads prior to the fight: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/i-have-a-theory-about-anthony-yarde-and-tunde.621974/
Lebedev v Jones is the worst I have seen - Denis fought until he had nothing left with an elephant man head. Those Russians have plenty heart and pride.
So do you think Tunde made the right call letting Yarde out for the 11th? I feel like I've hit a nerve with you when it comes to Yarde, I'm not sure why. He was dominated tonight, completely outclassed. As predicted by most of the forum.
Wouldn’t say you’ve struck a nerve just that I think your posts regarding Yarde are totally unfair and often bizarre. I’m not Yarde’s trainer, I don’t know the fighter and I’m not therefore able to judge with any conviction whether sending him out for the 11th was a good idea. If you’re asking me as a fan I’d say probably not. But Yarde still had a puncher’s chance and it’s a world title fight so I can see why Tunde felt it might have been worth it. But anyway that’s beside the point. I made my post to point out that your title for this thread is just absolutely absurd. It clearly wasn’t one of the biggest beatings in recent boxing history. That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Almost everything you post about Yarde is hyperbolic. You can’t objectively watch that fight and think that was one of the biggest beatings in recent history. It was an exhausted man getting battered in the final five minutes of a 30+ minute fight. Like I said it doesn’t strike a nerve with me, it’s just bizarre.
I was shocked when yarde came out for the 11th round. I had seen enough at the end of the 10th. The jump up in levels was to much. Yarde could have waited another 12 months. What I will say is the body shot nearly had kovalev out of there. Yarde is to easy to hit but can't wait to see him in with buatsi. When they fight it will be massive in this country. Yarde needs to fight a couple of fringe contenders we have heard of. Buatsi is probably 12 months off beating kovalev himself.
Totally dominated for 99% of the fight. Yarde's future at world level will always best be summarised with the old cliche 'he has a punchers chance'.
I think yarde was some good corner advice away from winning, kov cannot take any punishment to the body and as soon as yarde we t there kov looked ready to quit. Shame all he got from Tunde was "make this round yours" type of crap coaching while kov was getting sound technical/tactical advice.
