Can you give us some more info on the guy whose jaw Marciano broke ,verified please.? Marciano's wife developed a drink problem and gained a lot of weight.I don't think his extra curricular sex life defines whether he was a nice guy or not.Lets not forget all the good times and sexual opportunities he denied himself to achieve his gaol of becoming champion and achieving financial security. He was notoriously parsimonius with money ,Jimmy Durante described him as," America's Guest" but he had a pathological fear of winding up broke. And given how much he sacrificed to get to the top ,I for one cant blame him for looking after his dough once he made it to the big time. Marciano was good to his family, donated to the church and various charities, and helped some friends financially.I think he was a pretty decent man and qualifies for this thread.
Random fact about Joe Louis. He had an affair with a Brazilian entertainer by the name of Hebe Camargo and he gave her a chain with a gold medal of St. Benedict. She later gave that as a gift to Eder Jofre who still owns it.
Felix Trinidad is the biggest gent the sport has seen in the last 20 years. Such a charismatic human being, he truly loved pleasing and bringing entertainment to his fans.
Who were the serial philanderers you were referring to? I didn't actually know until recently that Alexis Arguello in training for the Mancini fight brought a woman (who wasn't his wife) to his training camp. All part of his preparation apparently.
I know nothing turns up in any of his biographies.he admitted to striking Lena Horne a beautiful but foul mouthed lady but I've never read he hit any of his 3 wives. I've never been an advocate of violence towards women but now find ,in the autumn of my years, that a vigorous spanking of my partner does wonders for my flagging erection!
