Does it say more about Kovalev, or Yarde?
Was it a great jab, or an epic crumble?

It was a calculated power jab, which, coming from Kovalev in such deep waters in a fight that had already yielded a few momentum shifts, made a massive apex predator statement.

Yarde was completely out of gas.

A handful of posts from you and I can already tell you're not going to last very long. The toxicity is literally dripping from your posts.

Yarde took a lot of flush jabs and power shots throughout the course of 10 rounds leading in the 11th. The accumulation of those shots and the fatigue of emptying his tank in the 8th led to him being broken down enough to be KO'd by a jab.

His chin is actually very good, and his overall boxing skills are better than most people thought. It is infantile to laugh at him and say he was KO'd by a jab as it doesnt take into account accumulation and fatigue

Yarde like AJ has too much muscle mass, he gasses because of it..

I don't think Yarde showed a bad gas tank considering he was eating leather non stop which drains you.

He acquitted himself well considering I thought he had no business being in there.

The same jab could have KO'd Ward in the later rds had he not resorted to low blows to get out of these later rds (idem he did vs Kessler).

Agreed, even Quartey in his best Jab day...needed to take tire/demoralize his opponents first...then Jabs start becoming more destructive

At that point a push could have almost done it. Yarde was too exhausted to keep going. He really was not used to this kind of resistance. He did well. Had he had more experience he could have used his power to work the body and stop Kovalev in 5 rounds.

Kov broke Yarde down in those last 3 rounds.

What amazed me was the fantastic 2nd wind Kov turned on in the 9th. I was expecting a sluggish 9th from both due to fatigue, for different reasons from the 8th.

No shame in being out on your feet against a World Class operator in your 1st attempt at that level.

Yarde was simply knackered to the point of extreme exhaustion. A finger poke at that stage would have done the job.

Every credit to Yarde for showing great guts. He emerges, similar to Groves after the 1st Froch fight, with more credit than he entered the ring with despite a defeat.
