Seeing as he was the P4P best and he just finished in his prime, do you think it will have a positive or nagative effect on boxing as a sport?

In a way yes because i wanted him to get beat up.

So yes but hey he still could make a come back but dont be surprised instead of seeing take on Cotto he fights someone like Hatton again.

Like I said in my other posts regarding this matter . . . boxing goes on.

No adverse effect. In fact it cleared the way for the other fighters at 147 to settle the issue of who rules the division.

. . . and with Oscar retiring also (soon) we will see real important fights pushing through. I just hope Bhops follow soon. :yep

There are enough young guns to make up for him leaving. Cotto looks to be the next superstar, and hopefully when he reaches that status PBF will unretire to make history happen

BTW the man in my avatar can hopefully fill some empty shoes in the future (PBF, DLH, etc)

I think it benefits the sport. Casual fans hated mayweather's style they found it boring. And people watch sports to be entertained, not to be accountants. HBO and the media made mayweather p4p #1, not the fans.

I'm SO glad PBF retired that means we'll get real meaningfull fights and just fighters that wanna fight not worried about fan bases etc, etc. I think with DLH and B-Hop close to all retiring it's good for the sport. Pavlik,Cotto and Pacquiao are ready to step in NOW and with so many exciting prospects/young fighters on the way up it's gonna be a good time to be a Boxing fan

Its a bad thing. How many household names will there be in boxing with mayweather and de la hoya gone. Who will generate intrest in boxing? Cotto and Margarito are nobodies to the general public.
