Less then 24 hours after the fight and it’s nearly done 1 million views on BT...in defeat, he is now a casual comedity and on the way to mainstream if/when he gets back to winning ways. At the beginning of the week, the likes of Tony Hayes said nobody would know the fight took place. I myself said that if Yarde won by KO it would go viral... well I was wrong, he went viral in defeat, due to the 8th round and his general courage and the excitement of the action. His next fight does mega views on BT.
I definitely feel his stock has risen after that fight. I certainly think more of him now than I did before the loss.
Never really watched him, but I did for this one. I have read many threads on him, the bum carousel continues etc so I reserved judgement. He wasn't behind by far in terms of ability, so I will just say the other fella knew a little bit more than him. I was on the edge of my seat urging him on, and really thought he had turned it around and was going to get the stoppage. Overall a very good performance and he should take pride in what he almost achieved. Is he good enough to win a world title, absolutely. One I will be watching again.
Most of the hate for Yarde stemmed from Matchroom fanatics and that honestly is the truth as tragic as it sounds. Could you imagine if Yarde had boxed Quinlan and fouled him on the way to a win? Because that’s what Buatsi did and nobody talks about it. There was nothing previously in Yarde’s fights that warranted criticism. Could he have stepped up in opponent a before Kovalev - yes. But still doesn’t warrant the criticism he received. He had a very impressive win over Sjekloca which again his critics played down.
Made a fan out of me. Lots to work on but I’ll follow his career with keen interest. The timing of the fight was great too, done and dusted by 9. Definitely made it accessible to a wider audience. Hate these stupid late main events- Warren’s been bad for it recently.
I enjoyed watching him fight. Will look forward to seeing where he goes from here, hope he can get a proper trainer and realise his potential.
Loved the part where he was struggling getting battered and just beat his heart and kept coming forward looking for a hard punch to land. His attitude is first class.
Hayers opinion on anything to do with Frank Warren or BT is null and void. The man harbours a worrying level of hate and purposely avoids any promotional work or broadcast they do, believing for some strange reason that everyone else does the same. He's wrong. Every casual I know watched the fight and I'm from Dublin. The promotion can't have been that bad. The wattsapp/facebook groups were hopping.
Went up significantly imo. Thought he would fold early with his head ending up in Row Z. His lack of experience, virtually zero AM background, a below par corner/trainer and hardly any quality opponents beforehand just screamed hypejob. But i really hope he can kick on from this loss, it just came a bit early. No shame whatsoever. He needs to learn to be more accurate when throwing his punches. He doesnt throw that often and Kov was avoiding most of the power shots. He can work on that in the gym though. He does appear to have all the natural advantages and stuff you cant teach. ie chin, size, power etc. Needs to be fighting decent fighters now. Pointless going back in with roadsweepers
Ha ha. A lot of shootings in fairness for a relatively small city. Our friends at MTK play their part.
I never hated him. I think Tunde is an arse, but always thought Yarde seemed a nice kid. A bit brainwashed maybe and not especially bright, but nice enough. Just wanted him to fight someone with a pulse and prove himself, which he now has done. He gets the credit he deserves for a good performance against Kovalev.
