Don’t know why people were soo confident about Yarde. Major step up it was and he did ok but besides one good spell he didn’t do much else.

 

I know Kova is old, but Yarde was also better than expected, even if he lost.

 

I never get the British media/fans. Their love of their fighter is taken to ridiculous extremes, believing he'll win even if all the odds are against him. Seeing all these English guys act as if this fight was some kind of shock upset speakes volumes.

 

I think that had more to do with heart and Kova going back to the artless brawling style that McGirt's been trying to reel him away from, he really started to look his age in the middle and later rounds. Gassing is mental, most people give up mentally before their body does, Yarde didn't do that he kept on pushing till the tank was empty. You have to give him credit for that, but a fighter that's all heart and no skill is about as good as a punching bag and Yarde doesn't seem to have sobered up after this loss.

 

Yarde would get destroyed by C. Johnson and Buatsi. Kovalev looked totally washed up in there and it was completely one sided other than the 7th and 8th rounds.

l always knew an elite like kov would smash the CLeverly/Calzaghe level types.
