Adonis wasnt the best man in the divison. He was an old guy who almost died when he finally stepped up. Guys steps up goes into a coma and almost dies.
I never said he was the best guy in the division. He was the #2 rated guy and Kovalev never fought him hence why Kovalev was never the man of the division. Kovalev was the #1 top guy just like Froch was when Ward left for 175.
Yea no. No 40 year old is the 2nd best in the division. He was grandpa who ducked the top guys and then almost died when he stepped up.
cmon you cant expect everything when one guy is nicknamed chickenson. As soon as chickenson tried not to be chickenson and make just a decent defence he got stopped very badly (albeit with a nod to his age by then). It took a possible ATG to stop Kovie, different standard all together.
He wasn't 40 and it would matter what age he was anyway. He was the second highest rated guy in the division and the WBC champ. Kovalev needed to fight him to became the MAN.
He needed to fight a guy who was ducking him? How does that workout? And what would it prove. Stevenson was so old and had so little left he almost died against top guys.
Using the term "robbed" to describe things like, what happened to Kovalev vs Andre Ward, is what has devalued the meaning of the term when it comes to genuine fight robberies
Adonis needed to fight Kovalev to become LHW Champion and vice a versa. There hasn't been man at 175 since Adonis beat Dawson. These are the facts not opinions. Cotto became the man at 160 by beating 40 year old Matrinez. Canelo became the man by beating Cotto. Kovalev was never the man.
Well thats how is it. Being the "man" means being crowned champion of a division. Mostly all of the time it comes with the ring belt. Kovalev was neither the champion or a ring belt holder.
