Is he even good for an undercard anymore? If he fought the argie again I'd watch though.

yes -- very shitty when there are loads of hard working pros who would grasp the opportunity but instead are stuck on small hall show ticket deals. Matchroom have a lot of backing so should be using their platform and NXTGen shows to actually seek out and support upcoming talent. Dave Allen just isnt of interest now and has had more than enough chances

Out of interest... why is it only Dave Allen people pick out for being a likeable journeyman that should retire immediately. He’s a big draw even with his limited talent earns more than most of the posters on here do and still feels he’s got something left in him. Which at 27 is understandable. There’s not a promoter in the UK that wouldn’t have him on a show.

If Dave Allen should pack it in so should have of the heavyweight division, Molina, Chisora, Huck, Szpilka, Wach plus many more should be ahead of him in the queue to pack it in and don’t get half the grief.

He’s still a young man and we don’t know what he’s been told. if he’s been told they will give him a knock over job and then fight someone like Wardley for the British. He is well within his rights to give that a go particularly if he’s being paid a fortune.

If he’s been told one fight then we will throw you in against a Hrgovic for a hiding then yes fair play it’s not the best thing for him. However we don’t know the plan but if he’s been offered good money to fight some scrub for the commonwealth after Dubois vacates then fair play to him

He NEVER let's his hands go and throws shots, just walks people down whilst taking shots on the chin.
I would be a fan if he threw punches and took it seriously. Hearn will still use him because casuals think he's some sort of Mike Tyson..

He should retire imo he’s not a very good boxer and he’s had a tough career his greatest strength is his chin

    This is 100% true.

He is bizarre and frustrating in this respect.

He's not blocking the shots with his arms/gloves, so why not let his hands go?! He's already wide open and taking shots so why not just throw back?!

Almost like he has the boxing equilvalent of the yips or dartitis. "Why are you standing in range and not throwing?!" So annoying!

Did he actually have headaches before the Price fight or was that just some exaggerated rubbish from Allen to try and get some love and concern? I hate to sound so cynical but you really don't know with him because surely if he was he'd be taking some time out, he'd be being ordered to.

This exactly. I have no problem with him carrying on as long as it’s his level and not former Olympians etc. Saying that his level is probably English level so he should be low on cards and not used by Eddie for a cheap padder high up on a card because he has fans.

I just hate how hypocritical the whole thing is. .

The moment something does go wrong their will be so many people who contributed finding little things to excuse their part in it.

We all had a mate growing up who had to be protected from himself if not he would do something ludicrous on a night out. And as mates you would do it.

Yet people keep sending Allen into bat for their own gains. Them people will be the ones milking it if something does go wrong.

Just don't see the point for Dave to continue his career. He has shared the ring with some top contenders and he always gave it his all in the ring. He has some fantastic opportunities and it's the right time to end it now.

I'm sure there would be thousands of reality shows that would sign him up in a heartbeat. Loads of easier ways for him to make dough
