Neither moved about in weight, so longevity will play a part in my answer. GGG had more title defences and has aged better imo, he's also had a longer career, pro and am.

For me the best win between them is the Alverez rematch, for a whole collection of wins Kovalev has GGG beat. The Jacobs and Pascal 1 wins are roughly equal imo.
Both put forward excellent efforts in non win affairs in highly controversial fights against Canelo and Ward. It basically comes down to GGGs 9/10 title defences.

Kovalev would win at any time but GGG is the greater fighter by a hair, if you go off official decisions however, Ward > Canelo
So Kovalev pulls it in his favour quite comfortably.

Also Kovalev never fought Bellew, that's Stevenson.

Funny how they both got screwed/robbed against the A side.

I agree ,I think GGG is the better fighter, but at light heavyweight? I can't see Golovkin coming in at more than 170 pounds and I'm wondering if he could rock Kov and get his hook to the body without absorbing light heavy power. Might be a good fight for GGG to take next year though, at the end of his career.

    Kovalev would knock golovkin out.
    Ggg defense
style of "squared up shoulders, high guard, use legs to step out of range" defense doesn't go well with kovalevs style of offense with straight shots down the middle.

The guys that managed to avoid excessive punishment against kovalev were Hopkins and Ward who did a Philly shell, dipping to the side type and trying to get inside. Yarde managed to avoid the straight right hand pretty well by dipping.
