For a lot of mature students, upon leaving school uni was not a realistic option, but now it is. Without getting too much into my own personal circumstances, my school didn't even offer A-levels, and no one from my school ever went to uni. I do mean no one as well. I got into uni via an access course as a lot of students of my age and background do, and a lot of unis don't accept access courses. The access course was a joke mind you and didn't prepare me for uni at all, but I'm still thankful for the opportunity. I'm now going onto do my masters. My younger brother got into LSE and he didn't have the best grades, but he is passionate about his subject and more than likely aced the interview knowing him.
I know my uni accepted people from access courses. A friend of mine did one. She did end up finding it hard and dropping out but she also didn’t go to lectures and was a massive party girl so wouldn’t put that down to the access course. There is the option of night school to do A-levels though. Obviously would take a lot longer than an access course though. My mum did an access course and hers was a joke, seemed like for each subject she did a module of an AS-Level. She didn’t end up finishing it either... Can understand mature students not doing A-levels...given my background I’m not sure I’d have done them back in the day. Also I genuinely believe they were a lot harder back then...I started Maths A-level early, the year before they completely changed the curriculum and structure, the new curriculum was a lot easier...
I know some real thickos with 2:1s from ex poly unis. You’d be shocked. The whole idea of uni has become diluted and doesn’t mean what it used to. And many companies make it worse by demanding degrees when they are not needed. A lot of kids from working class backgrounds get badly caught out when they leave uni with an average degree but no contacts or work experience placements and struggle badly to get a grad job.
I didn't go to an ex poly so can't comment. Got the first job I interviewed for. More than 90% of graduates from my uni are in grad jobs within 2 years of leaving. Cheers.
Anyway, back on topic, I always knew Cleverly had a ceiling and it was that Bellew fight, the move up to Cruiser was silly. Still, he had a career that most boxers could only dream of and was a two time World Champion, he doesn't look like he's handling retirement too well though.
Or you could just stick to the topic, that's what people tend to do in threads, it's why they have a title, what are you going to do next, start discussing the best Vegan restaurants in the Loma v Campbell thread?
Been a conversation about unis between myself and at least 3 other members. If people reply to my posts, I'll respond. The amount of times I've been on threads and the footies being discussed, or MMA, or the colour of peoples bins in Liverpool FFS, I never complain. Relax.
Well done. What was that job? Toilet flunky?? University has become a money making racket. What makes a grad job ?? Why is uni needed for non vocational jobs ??
i liked him, he was very entertaining to watch in a lot of his title fights too. he lacked some attributes which stopped him from being one of the best though, mostly things you cant be taught.
