Donut destroyer and Tyson shouldn't be spoken of in the same breath Andy is a good man who has a Cinderella story to retire on let's leave it at that.
You would have to fancy Tyson but then again Ruiz got up from a big knockdown and took a monster right hand off AJ and spat it out, that shows character right there. Ruiz getting back up and fighting back would make Tyson think, who knows what could happen down the stretch. Ruiz has faster hands than Tyson, we saw how Tyson falls apart when fighters land combinations on him.
Ok, you got it, I'm comin right at ya, your 100% correct, Ruiz can't touch anyone top 10 All time, not even top 15, and who can he beat top 20, All Fury has is size, they are both terrible except for one or 2 good qualities, that's about it, neither could touch the top ATG's, it's funny how just because people are watching them now, they think they are awesome.
I'll take it farther...2004 Freddie Roach trained, post face tat Tyson knocks Ruiz out. If he doesn't tweak his knee first.
But people thought Floyd Patterson was awesome when he was champ. Many people I knew, after Moorer beat Holyfield, were picking Michael against all of the other heavyweights (including Tyson) and whispering that he could be on the way to greatness. Witherspoon's win against Page was considered quite a big deal...look what happened there. The point is that premature contemporary adulation happens regularly in sports...it's one of those "hadda be there" type o' things. Kind of like Rock or Pop music...Pop music hasn't changed much musically over the years (most of the dance music we hear today is directly related to disco), it's only popular because it features the old, familiar, repetitive chord progressions and catchy leitmotifs we've heard a zillion times, paired with a young face (or set of). Same with sporting culture...people respond best to the familiar with a new face. Plus, people want to believe what's happening now is everything. The truth is that those old fighters are still considered great for good reason...hindsight! We don't really know what will happen to the public's consideration of the modern day champs. But it's fun to postulate: my guess is Fury will be looked upon as mediocre considering the lineal guys roughly right before him (Wlad, Lewis). Ruiz still has a long way to go, and probably knows it (to his credit), Joshua ain't looking good (but remember Lewis)... if you ask me the only person capable of greatness (and he needs a Lewis-meets-Steward level of infusion into his style) is Wilder. If Wilder could pick up and employ even half of what LL learned from Steward...a devastating champion imo.
Tyson comes into the Ring and ruiz messes his shorts and has to forfeit, so I say Tyson, Ruiz decides to never fight again!
