Well worth a listen. Really interesting life, and provides some insight into Haye convincing Chisora to leave Don Charles and go to Coldwell instead. Talked about when Haye chinned him too, eventually costing him 8k to get his teeth fixed and Haye never apologising.
As been said before, all the tris Dixon pods are great, he’s got a new sponsor so the sounds a lot better now aswell
Don seems a fair guy but not had the respect he deserves. Think he’d make a lot of top boxers into War Machines given the chance. His lad is suppose to be class in the HW division too so hope he gets his big break with someone he can trust. Haye.....he’s an arrogant melt anyway so nothing surprises me about that twat. Thinks the world owes him type until a certain Mr Bellew exposed him!!
I like Don Charles, think he's a good personality, speaks well and yeah don't think he's ever had a top top boxer in his stable. He did ok with Chisora and Buglioni but both are/were limited fighters. Not sure why he wants an apology from Haye though. He should have restrained Chisora from the outset and prevented him from confronting David if he was to do what a trainer should have done in that situation. He was also throwing punches at Haye, took a couple jabs and then stupidly came forward again. He got what was coming to him. In the end, the money generated from the actual fight was probably worth it for all parties concerned. I'll defo give this a listen because I like it when Don talks. Whenever he is mentioned here though I love to post this snippet from my favourite press conference ever. Tyson and Don going at it with Big Peter Fury getting involved in the end. Excellent listen. Went into it with low expectations but came out with a new respect for Don. Came across as an intelligent and industrious guy. Didn’t realise how much of a snaking he got by Chisora and haye. Brilliant serious of episodes too. Where else can you hear about don Charles love of jazz dancing and Kevin Mitchell blowing his wad on west end brass.
Short career Why should any boxer show loyalty? Like a promotor would if the boxer wasnt serving a purpose? Get what you can and get out
Normally I’d agree but some relationships are different. I may be wrong but don seemed to have his back and is a spot on trainer. Are haye and coldwell going to do anything else for him or show him any loyalty at all ?? Between manager / promoter and fighter I agree with you btw. Whatever makes the most money makes the most sense.
Under Haye bar the Gashi fight where he run for 12 rounds Del Boy has looked very motivated Under Charles you never knew what Del was turning up Now i im not saying it was Dons fault as im not privvy to what goes on but maybe he needed to move on in order to carry on
