Dont panic Fury fans Wilder just means he wants to fight the winner of Ruiz v Joshua 2 aslong as the winner is Ruiz. If Joshua wins the rematch then Wilder will be back to being interested in Fury.
He says this ... but deep down in his heart he knows he'd rather fight Bermane Stiverne a couple more times.
Now he's seen Joshua get stopped he believes he can beat Joshua. Before I think he thought he was going to get iced. A fight for much more money with a vulnerable looking Joshua is definitely more appealing than getting laughed at for 2 months for the press tour followed by being given the run around by Fury and hoping for more home cooking.
Well that's fair enough but he must be kicking himself for not getting Joshua himself that night, take nothing away from Ruiz performance but Joshua was there for the taking that night. Joshua through no fault of his own as actually been bad for the division as so many guys didn't want to fight him for the titles but silly amounts of money that I don't think was there.
I'm sure you're right, why else would Wilder and Fury and we can the likes of Ortiz and Wyhte, turn him down? Guess we will find out in the Ruiz rematch if it was an off night for Joshua. The Joshua that beat Whyte and Wlad hasn't been seen since imo, wether it was tactics or form I don't know but imo Joshua isn't a tactics type boxer, leave the tactics to the Furys.
The AJ that beat Wlad was out on his feet for a few rounds as well so maybe he learned something from that
Same with Whyte as well, problem was before Whyte he'd never gone past five rounds.I remember saying at the time that his miraculous recovery against Whyte and Wlad after looking totally spent, was either incredible or lucky. My take on Ruiz was that he'd done his homework and didn't allow Joshua to take any rounds off as he often did. That's my only worry about Joshua as I can't see how he fixes those stamina issues.
I feel most bad for Luis Ortiz. He had that shot once Miller popped dirty yet his management ruined it, told him to sit tight and mouth shut while they negotiated and the screwed it, personally i feel on purpose but they claim misunderstanding. You dont misunderstand the numbers when you are trying to iron out a multi million dollar deal. But he could be sat here now as a unified world champion but for 1 he isnt and for 2 the amount of money he lost by not taking that fight he will never see in all the fights of the rest of his career added together. He aint going to be paid anywhere near that for the Wilder rematch, not even close. His own team sabotaged his chance at titles and big money and they did it under the instructions of the PBC as the PBC had plans to feed Ortiz to Wilder a 2nd time nor wanting to help Hearn and Joshua out when they were looking for a good replacement for Miller.
Yes I know, just awful as we all said at the time "what on earth was Ortiz and his people thinking?" Clearly it was turned down in the knowledge of his rematch with Wilder but he literally could of turned round and said f*** you,I'll take my chances and big pay day with Joshua thanks very much.(must of felt some loyalty to Haymon but you're right he ain't gonna see that money with Wilder or ever again imo)
Deontay Wilder Knockout to Joshua since he obtained the full weight title to been looking for the fight with Joshua and we all know that Joshua was hiding
