Surely the boards word is final??

I can’t stand the WBC but tin pot? Lol. It was a fight for their belt and Mauricio gets a say on his fights obviously.

Wouldn’t have happened if he weren’t there.

It wasn't a low blow. It was an illegal blow because Edwards was down at the time.

It wouldn't have happened when it did but more than likely the WBC would have overuled it at a later date.

The ref should have disqualified the Mexican really, but he awarded the KO which is why Suleman had to overule and make it a NC.

You know what punch I mean with Edwards.

But the fight is registered by the bbb of c and surely their rules supersede any other organisations rules.

    This sets a dangerous precedent

I agree. Sulliman is as corrupt as they come and he just made it up on the spot, so while the correct decision was made it just opens up a whole can of worms.

Since the WBC set up Instant Replays, they can in agreement with the local commission appoint a panel in charge in charge of overseeing the replays. If in agreement, the panel can overrule major decisions that could impact the outcome of a fight. As that is what happened in the Edwards-Martinez fight, it seems likely that the Instant Replay was in effect as per prior agreement with the BBBofC. Sulaiman has stated indeed that this was the case.

It's a rule, not a precedent. If the rule was in effect, it was applied in accordance with how it's supposed to, and the decision was also the right one.

The only possible controversy is if the Instant Replay rule had not been agreed with the BBBofC prior to the fight, and Sulaiman decided to unilaterally overrule the referee like his old man did in Tokyo nearly 30 years ago. While I wouldn't put anything past the WBC and the Sulaiman clan, I suspect that there would be a greater fuss kicked up if that was indeed the case.

Tbh I thought he’d of been there more in support of the Mexican fighting Edwards......we all know Sulliman lives a Mexican winner.

    He’s still shifty as ****.
