Did Hearn say how many fights he signed him for?

I don't know what I'd do with Hughie. I don't understand how a bloke boxing all his life can't throw a straight right hand. Peter has his work cut out but what's he been doing in the gym all this time for such a bad deficiency to rear its head again.

Didn't someone say he had an injury that meant he couldn't throw his right straight?

I may have got that wrong but I think I read it on here!

That's what I read too, so it's not strange at all.

That said, time for Hughie to fight between pudding and top10 for the time being. Fight the likes of Rudenko and Kassi for a while, which is just the level he can beat.

For fighting men the Fury's sure have a lot of excuses: the judges (v Parker), the cut (v Pulev) and now his age (as if anyone forced him to take these fights while he's still 'a baby').

I can't wait to hear what the next excuse is the next time he fights someone half decent.

They keep making bad decisions. When this fight was announced I thought it was a big jump forward from two awful opponents. The Pulev cut wasn't just an excuse as it was severe cut in sparring and stitched twice before the fight. They actually went to Pulev's team and asked for time and a re-arranged date and Pulev said no. Then the Pulev team knew where he was weak and opened the cut in the 2nd. It was a silly decision to proceed with the fight and forced them to backpeddle two steps then make a big jump forward to Povetkin. Bad decisions from Peter and I've said before that Hughie is not a thinking man so probably went ahead with it and goes with whatever his Dad says.

I just hope his next fight isn't televised

    He's bloody punishment to watch.

For a "fighting man". He doesn't do much fighting does he.

Heard off a former sparring partner that he’s absolutely mint in sparring although he did also say that he has little power. That lack of power combined with his back foot style means that he’s not going to keep an opponent honest and so he will always lose points on ring generalship. Again, his power means that he will just throw single shots rather than in bunches because he doesn’t want to get caught in any kind of trade.

I like what @emallini said, disappear for a couple of years, eat tons of uncastrated wild boar ;) and put some proper muscle on.

I have some sympathy as they weren't tied in to a big promoter. So they didn't have the same pull with the governing bodies or choice of opponents etc. They took the Pulev fight in Sofia when no-one else fancied it. Whyte, Miller etc all were wary. Presumably they're hoping swallowing their pride and signing with Old Scratch, sorry Eddie, will help Hughie progress.

Yes, I suppose I can be quite harsh on Hughie and team. I watched a vid where Peter, Hughie and Eddie were chatting about the first meeting when Eddie went to Peter's house and had a cup of tea. Hughie was wary of him, had stated he didn't like Eddie and that he'd called him a "cokcroach". When asked if he thought any differently about Eddie, Hughie said "business is business".

Fury vs Price isn’t the worst idea. Fury vs Joyce is a decent match up although could be terrible to watch.

I do hope Hearn does something with Fury as otherwise it looks like he signed him just to fill out a PPV card with the consequence being boxing possibly shelved from Channel 5. Which would be a shame for the sport in this country.

I don't want to see hughie fight ever again unless he fights Wilder and is guaranteed to get knocked out, he brings absolutely nothing in terms of excitement, I've never seen a more boring fighter in my life.

The Skirt should be fighting low euro level opponents like Teper and Helenius. That's clearly his level.

He's clearly way better than Dave Allen / Gash Ali level but wouldn't do well, imho against Dubois/Gormon/JJ . And obviously is never going to beat the HW elites.

Hughie Bear on tour around europe - could may lots of money and as he;s a nice guy help with UK/Euro relations.

Fury vs Price would be great. All the people who hate watching Hughie and swore to not watch him again would even tune in for that fight.

No point him fighting journeymen now. Price,Chisora,Bakole,Takam,Joyce,Dubois anyone of them would be great.

I used to praise Hughie and follow his fights but if he goes back to fighting no names I'm done. It is getting hard to watch his fights now...I knew he was in trouble when he fought Peters. He looked terrible imo, I was more impressed that Peters was still fighting he must be about 60 ffs!!!
