The life of a boxer is not an easy one, but most heavyweight champions have a lot of money and fame, two key ingredients that attract women. And that's the interesting disconnect to me as most of the wives of past champions look rather ordinary until say the mid 80's, and even then its hit or miss. Ezzard Charles had an attractive looking wife, who was white. I don't think people had a major issue with it. Dempsey had his share of good looking dames. I guess the heavyweight champion of the world is seldom a James Bond like magnet to the attractive ladies.
I know Ali had a couple of stunners, plus Larry's Diane was about as cute as can be...very beautiful woman.
Tunney's wife was attractive ,and rich.Schmeling's wife was an actress and a good looking woman .Louis' first wife Marva was a looker.
Idk, maybe some of the champs are wise enough to not put a ring on the first beautiful woman they get with? Boxing is a blue collar job that can lead to white collar wealth if you play your cards right. Boxers often come from horrible backgrounds/poverty/etc and have an innate wisdom to value hard work and wealth. The truly successful athletes play the long term game and are careful about who they marry and have children with as both can potentially ruin all their hard work and savings. You'd think the current generation would learn with all the NBA/NFL disasterous divorces/child support shenanigans (not to mention #metoo ), yet so many athletes continue to make the same mistake nowadays. Its weird how guys are more concerned with keeping up appearances and impressing other men than securing their own happiness and future.
Im not going to say I would have done any different if the opportunity had presented itself.Louis had hundreds of women
Ezzard Charles wife, Gladys Charles, looked mixed or like a light skinned black woman. Jake LaMotta had a very attractive wife, Vikki LaMotta. Although when they married she was 16 and he was 24. Despite that, he outlived her by 12 years. She died in 2005 at age 75 of complications from heart surgery and he died in 2017 at age 95. His family said he had pneumonia.
