And Grinning Greeny got upset when Briggs didn't boil himself down to Danny's "catchweight" for a cruiserweight trinket title. Briggs came in, took his pay cheque and dived at the first soft pawing jab that barely landed. Grinning Greeny then tried to lie to the public/media the next day bizarrely waving a dvd in the air which proved, he said, that the jab landed on the "soft part of the skull" and therefore Grinning Greeny's career of cruiserweight tomfoolery could continue as the best cruiserweight in the world live on Aussie Mainevent ppv for the dumb clueless bogans to continue to cheer on.
I remember the fight. Took a bunch of people down to a Toowoomba pub who had never watched boxing. Needless to say they weren't converted boxing fans after the show.....
WHAT ? They weren't impressed when you told your friends that they were witnessing the no.1 cruiserweight boxer in the world who was undefeated at cruiserweight and had previously outclassed Danny Santiago who was a HUGE name in the states. He then goes on to KO Paul Briggs with one punch, a brutal jab to the soft part of the skull. Some folks are very hard to impress.
Lucas Browne v Bowie Tupou is a good fight at this stage of their careers imo. So who takes this one? I have Browne as a slight favourite but I feel Tupou is a massive chance in this one.
That's a good fight for the scene. If Tupou is motivated I think he could very well take it. Browne is totally done and honestly was never good to begin with.
Fights between guys whose best years are well behind them aren't "good for the scene". They're irrelevant except to people with nothing but a superficial knowledge of the sport in this country. Foxsports have the right idea showcasing young up & coming talent. That's what audiences want to see. Speaking of which, the news about Jai Opetaia v Mark Flanagan is welcome. Presumably that's the headline act of what will hopefully be another stacked Foxtel show. It should be a "free" Foxtel show by my reckoning so we'll have to wait for an announcement on that one. They will want to develop Opetaia into a PPV attraction but he doesn't quite have the profile for that yet. I commend Foxtel for getting behind the young bloke though & giving him a decent chance to fulfil his potential. I'd like to see Jai Opetaia in with Mark Flanagan, Kane Watts, David Light & Blake Caparello. The latter two fights could be done as PPVs after Opetaia builds his profile with the first two. If he's successful against them, give him a couple of decent international opponents & then onto a world title shot. That's his pathway from my perspective. Another six fights & if he's good enough to win them, he should be ready for a world title shot after that.
Depends on the context. Are far as low skilled HW slugfests go? I like fights involving big punching Polynesians. And let's be honest about Browne. He was never really any good to begin with. He was always a low skilled brawler and the only time he remotely resembled a world class fighter(against a shot, bloated and disinterested Chagaev at that) he popped for PED. I think someone like Tupou always would have caused him some problems so this is a solid scrap based on a jelling of styles, the scene and the division it's taking place in. Something like this is a lot better than a money grab fight taking advantage of a desperate market. At least it's honest.
The fight is irrelevant & garbage. It resembles your contributions to this thread which presumably explains why you have an interest in it.
and this goose and co think they are cool with their GAY4 club, PMSL. there would be school kids reading this and thinking how LAME u idiots r, lol.
read this and see here u have the Grub Prowler going nuts with the unrelenting pathetic attack and insults towards Horn in this topic and pretending to show respect and adoration to the guy that the topic is dedicated to. pull your head in you fool and fellow clowns and show some appreciation for the few successful aussie boxers that we have ffs.
Some of you need to relax and stop taking things so seriously. It is a public forum not everyone is going to agree all the time. We can disagree on fighters talents and results of fights that is part and parcel of all boxing forums, but the name calling and the childish homophobic slurs need to be cut out.
Does anyway know if Danny ''Grinning'' Green is still abusing poor old triage nurses at Bussleton hospital?
Pretty evenly matched given both are shot to pieces. Browne just has to jab Bowie's temple Parker style but I'm not sure if he has the ability to do this..
