DAZN has plenty of fight cards , simple solution change the channel in the meantime I'll probably enjoy this fight , hell put me up for the winner Hearn ! It's not Hearns fault the fight is that popular and easily accessible to put on an actual sports app to gain viewers , don't hate the player , hate the game . At the end of the day is it the best fight with the entertainment value? Yea id say so on that card. In fact the fighters on that card will get more publicity bc of it, I'm sure they aren't complaining why are you guys ? Lol
A guy in NZ died from a 'corporate' boxing match. No head gear nothing. He died because he had been taught how to punch and block, but not how to tuck his chin in, roll with the punches etc. This art is perfected during amateur days, with headgear, for years; or in the gym sparring before going into a pro fight. He was knocked out because he didn't know how to not get KTFO. Add to that he was fighting a big samoan who hit like a seasoned heavyweight. This Youtube stunt probably communicates that anyone can get in the ring; therefore it probably increases the chance of unprepared guys stepping into the ring and therefore probably increases boxing deaths. Probably. If it came with a stern warning ala Johnny Knoxville Jackass warning, then I'd be ok with it personally.
As a boxing fan, this fight hurts and it pisses me off. I think it reduces boxing to a cheap *****. It's like a minstrel show. The views and money that this circus act will bring in isn't really going to convert any of the dweebs who follow these two clowns into boxing fans.
Sure, whatever brings in fans is good, but not if it compromises the integrity of the sport. In no other sport do people get a free pass because they're popular and rich, you can't buy your way into the NBA or the NFL or any other legit sport. If these guys want to turn pro they should walk the same route as any other pro boxer, not get catapulted to the main event on a PPV card with Devin Haney as the curtain raiser! Haney worked damn hard to be where he his and he shouldn't have to be second best to two online celebrities whose only combat experience, if you can even call it that, are a few "white collar" bouts. Think of all the amateurs out there, the guys just starting their pro career doing small club shows all trying to work they're way up to a PPV main event, what message does it send? To put on an exhibition on the undercard of a big fight, fine, but to make these guys the main event and make legit pros a side dish is just insulting.
If these guys are generating money then whats the problem. They're not fighting for a title. Boxings a business at the end of the day. Popularity has gotten many professional boxers fights they should never have landed over the years also. Hearn sees dollar signs, cant blame the man
I had to ask my kids who the guys were..........smh This may go down as the most buffoonish PPV ever, even worse than the glory that was Evander Holyfield vs. Tank Williams (with celebrity impersonators performing between fights)
Boxing is a sport first, business second. Or at least that's how it should be. These pair of clowns can **** right off Absolute **** show
