Referees are part of boxing. Who was for you the best among these two great ref?
How do you consider the level of the refs today?

Steele showed a lot of guts stopping the first Chavez Taylor fight. He knew it'd be an unpopular decision but he did it anyway, he did his job in the corrupt world of boxing where there's so much institutional pressure to NOT do your job.

Mills Lane wasn't afraid to take points away from the house fighter. He didn't kiss ass.

Steele was Don King's ref Just like Cortez & Bayless are
    Mayweather/Nsac Vegas ref's.
Mills Lane was the BOSS in the ring. I think the way he officiated Lewis-Akinwande was classic. Akinwande did nothing but grab & hold Mills said "Are you going to fight or do you wanna dance" ? Nothing changes so Mills said " OK Fred Astaire youre outta here" & DQ'd him lol

What about Steele's stoppage in Tyson Ruddock 1?

I think Mills Lane was the best ref all around. Great balance of letting the fighters do their thing but also making sure the fight didn't get out hand.

Richard Steele, Kenny Bayless, Tony Weeks, and Arthur Mercante Sr were top/are top notch.

Frank Cappuccino and Steve Smoger are great for letting fighters decide the winner and are willing to give them every chance they can to stay in the fight. Not afraid to let the fighters work their way out either. Very good refs but also allow fights to be as excited as possible.
