Take the Jones that beat Ruiz and match him up against any boxer who was a heavyweight champ in any decade, who could Roy have beat out of these fighters? matched against them while they were champs.
undisputed champs or just anyone who held a belt at heavyweight included.

    Well, he'd beat Tommy Burns.

Of lineals and under modern rules no VADA, he'd probably beat
    John L. Sullivan (def. Dominick McCaffrey) August 29, 1885 – September 7, 1892
    2 James J. Corbett September 7, 1892 – March 17, 1897
    3 Bob Fitzsimmons March 17, 1897 – June 9, 1899
    4 James J. Jeffries June 9, 1899 – May 15, 1905 (retired)
    5 Marvin Hart (def. Jack Root) July 3, 1905 – February 23, 1906
    6 Tommy Burns February 23, 1906 – December 26, 1908
    7 Jack Johnson December 26, 1908 – April 5, 1915
    8 Jess Willard April 5, 1915 – July 4, 1919
    9 Jack Dempsey July 4, 1919 – September 23, 1926
    10 Gene Tunney September 23, 1926 – July 31, 1928 (retired)
    11 Max Schmeling (def. Jack Sharkey) June 12, 1930 – June 21, 1932
    12 Jack Sharkey June 21, 1932 – June 29, 1933
    13 Primo Carnera June 29, 1933 – June 14, 1934
    14 Max Baer June 14, 1934 – June 13, 1935
    15 James J. Braddock
    18. Jersey Joe Walcott July 18, 1951 – September 23, 1952
    19 Rocky Marciano 50/50
    21 Ingemar Johansson
    28 Leon Spinks February 15, 1978 – September 15, 1978
29 Muhammad Ali (Post Spinks and a couple years before.)
    33 James "Buster" Douglas
    38 George Foreman November 5, 1994 – November 22, 1997
    37 Michael Moorer April 22, 1994 – November 5, 1994
    41 Hasim Rahman April 22, 2001 – November 17, 2001

And if he caught Holyfield, Holmes, or Michael Spinks at the right time.

    I'm a big RJJ fan.

He wouldn't beat half of what you have on that list.

The pre-1930s heavyweights fought in a small gloved, grappling era. They wouldn’t fare well today, but Jones might break a hand and get wrestled to death in a humid outdoor fight back then.

I agree with most of these. I am one on this forum that does not buy into a lot of the pre 1950's heavyweights being anything special. I respect what they did in there era but think Jones would have a field day with most of them. I base all of my views on the film I have watched and my own experience as a fighter. This sport has evolved over the years whether some like it or not. Jones was a special talent.

RJJ had no chin. Any punch at any time from these hwts would knock him out.

The other issue are ROIDS. Is Jones allowed to use? Are his opponents allowed to use? Jones without ROIDS was much less of a fighter.

Slightly off topic, but this enhanced footage of Dempsey v. Tunney is just about the most high quality film you'll see from back then:

Wasn't there talk about him fighting Corrie Sanders? If there was Roy knew Sanders was a bridge too far.

Most modern heavyweight champs would definitely beat heavyweight Roy from about sonny liston to now excluding leon spinks, roy was the best lightheavweight of all time, he didnt look as good at heavyweight

probably that he wasnt a stern enough test, picking a retired guy with no title pedigree not even a failed title shot would stink for jones.

It would amount to nothing, but in a way yes you are right that IF beaten by such paucity, he would ruin his HW career.
