Jones batters Barkley even worse and easier than Toney did. Iran is pulled out after 8 or 9 rds.

Jones had success when guys were afraid of his speed and reflexes. They would wait, let Jones dictate distance, and they would react to his feints. This would allow Jones to pick spots and punches and leap in and out.

Iran Barkley wouldn't buy into any of that and he wouldn't fear Jones. He wouldn't bite on the feints but would punch through them. At his best, he would force a chest to chest fight. I have never thought that Jones had the balls to fight that fight.

Barkley wasn't a guy you get out with one punch. Maybe Jones could move well enough to control the distance but I don't believe he would react well to a guy right on his chest.

    Iran was tough and crazy.

    He wouldn't have feared Roy.

He wouldn't have known where the punches were coming from though.

It's easy to say that he wouldn't bite on his feints.

Roy's speed would have caused him huge issues.

IMHO, it would have been an easy U/D for Roy.

Probably a replica of Iran's fight against Toney.

Unanimous decision for Jones I think. Or even a late stoppage. Depending on how spiteful Jones is feeling that day!

Jones would play chin music on him all the way to a stoppage.

Horrible matchup. Hopefully the ref would stop it before Barkley got too beat up.

Merqui Sosa? Bryant Brannon? Thomas Tate? They brought it right to RJJ and none lasted longer than 2 rounds, despite "Roy not having the balls"

Also Jorge Gonzalez, Jorge Castro, Eric woods and a bunch of others that I'm probably just forgetting came at Jones.

This is the same BS as picking the local plumber to beat Mike Tyson "as long as he's not intimidated, Mike will fold"

Barkley was a really good fighter but didn't have the style to trouble Roy or Toney

Roy on points but Barkley has a puncher's chance. You know Barkley has an uncomfrotable style for Roy.The logical pick though is that Roy's speed, reflexes and explosiveness would prevail.

The gulf in skill is simply monumental. Jones uses his hand and foot speed to befuddle a straight ahead and nearly defenseless Barkley from the first bell. By the mid rounds, Iran's face is a hideous mask and the fight is stopped. Barkley has won 0 rounds at the time of the mercy stoppage.

At 160 pounds Jones wins a wide UD, I don't think he'd risk an exchange to get Barkley outta there

If you think Barkley looked bad against Hearns before he stopped him... imagine what Roy would do to him with punches he never saw coming. He'd brutalize him and Barkley's chin would be too good for his own good.

Barkley landed some good punches on Toney. . He usually landed whoever it was since he was a bit of a wild swinger.

jones jr spends 2 rounds opening up irans face every time he lands it seems more and more leaks out .. in the 3rd dr refuses to send the blade out .. it's over .. the difference in everything is just boggling .. sure you can play Monday morning qb and use jones jrs later career against him ..but if that's the case I want iran from the cotezee fight ! that goes both ways
