I'm not asking who can set up their power better just asking who has more Raw Power?

Also who has better defensive Skills? I don't really like stats but wouldn't mind comparing. However, is it just more or does GGG get hit clean wayyy more than Kovalev?

Ggg Hits p4p harder than Kovalev, has better stamina, better defence, better chin, tougher, mentally stronger and all around just better.

I am a big canelo hater, but he will stop kovalev by a couple of bodyshots in the second part of the fight.

Kovalev Is a harder hitter as for defense well that's something else
.kovalev does have more raw power

But ggg does fight more careful.

(Lemieux , Steven's first two rounds , canelo ggg 2)

When you are a threat or ggg feels you have some power he fights tactical and safely behind the jab

So you can say ggg has better defense

Kovalev on the other hand. Dosent give a damn

Hes faced harder punchers than ggg and still goes in for the kill.

What keeps kovalevs opponents from coming Is his jab

Ggg uses a defensive jab against hard punches

Kovalev used more of a raw offensive raw jab against punchers

In terms of power it's close. Kovalev has better power in his jab. I would say right hands are about the same. But Golovkin has better power in his left hook and uppercuts ,not to mention body shots( except jab to the body). Overall I'd say Golovkin has slightly more power.

Defense is pretty complicated. Both fighters are vulnerable to the body and both aren't defensive wizards up top either. Kovalev's style is more defensively sound because he doesn't go on the non-stop attack like Golovkin. When Golovkin does go back on his jab ( such as Lemieux) he doesn't get hit as much. That being said Golovkin has big defensive lapses where he just seems to not care about getting hit. Overall I'd give the edge to Kovalev here.

Also why not give more options in the poll? There's no option for one fighter having better defense but the other power.

Good question! Kov is a naturally bigger guy and I would say prime Kov hit harder than GGG. They are probably pretty close these days even though GGG is last prime as well. Kov’s power is in his right hand and he has a stiff jab. GGGs jab is pretty powerful as well but he doesn’t always throw it with power. Kov just put his last opponent down with a jab and his jab gave ward serious problems.

Kov mainly throws a jab and big right hand and is offensively limited versus GGG. GGG has a very good left hook and I don’t recall Kov ever throwing a left hook. Also, GGG has a better gas tank and his power extends later into the fight than Kovs. Neither man moves his head well and the current version of both seems to get hit more often than previously. This could be a problem for Kov, even against a smaller guy.

I expect Canelo to follow the roadmap of Ward, especially the second fight where he slowed Kov down with body shots. Canelo has a great body attack even though he didn’t really seem to hurt GGG in eight fight to the body. Canelo’s body attack definitely slowed GGG down and made him more cautious. His left hook and counterpunching also played a major role in making GGG fight more cautiously. I still had him winning the first fight but that’s ancient history.

This is an interesting contrast of styles and size. Will be interesting to see if Canelo can bring his power to 175. That’s a big jump. They are saying no hydration limits and I’m still curious to see if this is accurate. If he beats a non-drained Kov, it will be the biggest scalp on his resume. I’m actually excited to watch this one.

Kovalev has better one shot power, particularly his right hand which is thrown with better leverage and snap.

Their power is just different though, GGG I think is heavier handed than Kovalev.

Kovalev though is going to present a bigger dilemma for Canelo in that he's going to try to keep the fight at distance with the jab which has better snap than Golovkin's.

Kovalev may be able to neutralize Canelo's speed if he can pinpoint and keep his jab on target against Canelo.

Going to be a hell of a matchup to be sure, I cant say with certainty who will win between Canelo and Kovalev though one must lean toward Canelo simply because Kovalev has a history of wilting both mentally and physically down the stretch of a fight.
Mental strenghth Canelo gets a big check mark to his name vs Kovalev.
