I'm just reading hate from losers who are still salty about the GGG fights.

This is an excellent, dangerous fight for Canelo and is clearly going to be the event of the year for boxing. How can you not love this fight, you people are weird as ****.

Who else is willing to give up so much size to fight opponents as good as GGG, Jacobs and now Kovalev?

Let's be real here, Canelo is only taking this fight because of how vulnerable Kovalev currently is. He was out on his feet in his last fight and has a record of 4-3 in his last seven fights. Would Canelo even consider fighting the Kovalev who fought Andre Ward in their first fight back In 2016? With the gifts Canelo is consistently given on the scorecards, all he has to do is make it to the finish line.

Thing is mayweather, although generally under appreciated on this board, he did actually earn his wins and other than Castillo(which was razor close) the scorecards were accurate.

Also, anytime mayweather fought, we all thought at one point that this might be his time to lose. For example, Oscar, Mosley, canelo, Pac-Man, Hatton, corralles.

On the flip side, the consensus generally is that canelo is now unbeatable on points. Man, he even managed to score an MD against the face of boxing mayweather after losing every round.

Kovalev is going to have to put him on ice, like Julian jackson style ice, to win this I’m afraid.

Oh we have an expert among us :D you sure know what peak means, don't you? Did Usain Bolt run 9.58 every week end? He'd still be faster than 95% of sprinters, but not at his best. Also, nice tone ;)

Cool story. Now back to modern day boxing a full camp (preferably 10- 12 weeks) and proper recovery is necessary for optimal performance there's no debating that and attempting to do so is 100% pure stupidity.

I didn't follow how we got here (to this fight), can someone lay out the rationale to me for Canelo taking this fight? From my perspective it seems a high risk fight for him with quite low reward. What am I missing?

Canelo has 2 approved opponents by Dazn GGG and Kovalev. Although Kovalev is the larger fighter he had less tread on the tires, he's lost 3 out of his last 7 fights 2 by ko, he's 2 weeks removed from a fight . He'll be forced right back into an extremely short camp with no recovery time and has zero negotiating power. Easy pickings for Canelo. Whereas with GGG it's still a 50/50 fight and he wants a much larger purse.

I can see it now. Kovalev lands a few nasty shots and Canelo looks hurt.....then the ref jumps in and in a very short and concise manner tells Kovalev return to his corner. Canelo's gloves are re-taped, mouth guard washed out, trunks adjusted, and 2 minutes later, BOX!

If wilder can buy that sort of protection (Ortiz fight) then I would not be surprised if something like this happens when canelo is worth 10 times more

If Kova somehow pulls this off , he'll be the frontrunner for fighter of the year, after taking a couple of "0's" in dominant perfomances, and beating a pfp fighter with just one loss.
