14 September 2019 - Otto Wallin 22 February 2020 - Deontay Wilder II June 2020 - Deontay Wilder III December 2020 - Andy Ruiz/Anthony Joshua winner Discuss.
Which means Wilder will fight Luis Ortiz twice and Tyson Fury three times in his last six fights (the other having been Breazeale). I wonder how many knockdowns Wilder will score by the time those six fights are over? After three fights - he's already scored six knockdowns (Ortiz - three times/Fury - two times/Breazeale - one).
Wladimir Klitschko, Sefer Seferi, Francesco Pianeta, Deontay Wilder, Tom Schwarz, Otto Wallin, Deontay Wilder* Not a bad run really, considering it includes a two-year absence from the ring. Also, not sure people would be as harsh on Fury if 1. He hadn't fought Wilder so soon after his comeback. No one would have batted an eyelid had he fought Seferi, Pianeta, Schwarz and Wallin in his first four fights back. 2. He hadn't signed a lucrative deal - what was he going to do, turn it down? *If that fight is not made, then he deserves some heat
Wins all of those and he’s 100% hof. Maybe beat a couple of up an comers like Hrgovic and yoka then ATG status beckons him.
In reality it will be Mladen Miljas, Arnold Gjergjaj, Alexander Frank and Lukasz Rosanski, in no particularly order. 91-4 combined record Wilder already mentioned wanting to fight the Ruiz vs Joshi II winner instead.
Why not? He would be undefeated. Defeated 11 year streak wlad in Germany easily. Would have beaten wilder, like him or loathe him, twice (3 times really) Then become undisputed with all 4 Beat 2-3 major threats coming up in the division. It would be a better resume than vitalis, bowe, and many many others And retiring undefeated has major clout, like it or lump it
So in best case scenario for fury his top wins would be Wlad Wilder x 2 and a draw (win) Winner of Ruiz/Joshua Possible rematch with above Fight 2-3 upcomers who will be fully prime Hrgovic etc. Add in the like of chisora X 2, hammer, USS And zero defeats. (Best case scenario) That is a world class resume
Wilder and Fury are the top two heavyweights in boxing. If they plan to fight three times, I'm all for it. If Wilder stops him in one in the rematch, though, I think twice will probably be enough. If the Wilder-Ortiz rematch is as good as their first fight, they could fight again, too. People are kind of sleeping on that rematch. The first Wilder-Ortiz fight was arguably more entertaining than Wilder-Fury.
Gotta hand it to wilder, ANY fight he’s in it’s exciting. Always waiting for him to be knocked down, clipped, bomb someone into the 8th dimension etc.
