Not really, but then he went stratospheric after that by becoming the biggest PPV ticket in the sport.

    Absolutely.

He’s got a very good claim to being the best, but by every metric anyone could ever use to measure popularity he falls short.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m getting bored of the whole wheeling out the mental
Health chat the week of the fight, I imagine the public are too. It may be genuine but it no longer seems it, like the boy who cried wolf.

I have always thought there were many question marks over Fury's mental illness. He spouts absolutely nonsense all the time but his self-diagnosed condition is supposedly to be taken as gospel.

In my opinion it was always far more likely that he knew he was looking at a long lay off after being busted for drugs after the Klitschko fight. As a twenty-something millionaire who likes booze and drugs it was always likely that he'd pile the weight on; let's face it, he's always looked the type who'd be more Hatton than Haye after retirement. After that blows over he shifts the weight and comes back, whilst the mental health champion tag is a nice little way to change his profile from god bothering drug cheat gypsy.

As for this week, (that would be fight week for Fury and yet more people are talking about Chisora's antics earlier this week and the Ruiz Joshua press conferences), there's not much Fury can talk about which hasn't been said before. His opponent is rubbish, he's not done anything differently, the Wilder fight seems a mile off so it's just more of the same.

He's using it to distract from some of the stuff he said in the past that got the press against him BEFORE his meltdown. The mental health card is more powerful than the race card these days!

Just watched the press conference which was a waste of time I'll never get back, Fury literally looks like a man who's just packed up work and about to go on holiday, laughing and joking no needle or tension whatsoever.

He knows he's fighting an absolute pudding what is even the point of this fight.

    Tony is spot on.

Tyson resume is so weird. He's fought "the man" of two era's, and gave a fantastic account of himself both times. Then you look at the rest of his record! It's shocking, and he hasn't faced ONE quality contender, ever.

He's just grabbing all the loot that he can, because he know's a top puncher will flatten him soon.

    Agree with Tony 100%.

I don't know how ESPN/Top Rank are goign to make this work. Even if they get the Wilder rematch surely that doesnt cover the outlay they have done so far.

I don't understand why they didn't use one of those 5,000 seater venues that las vegas has especially with the short notice against an unheralded name

He’s getting big money to fight easy opponents, I can’t blame him. I blame the people offering the money.

Not wanting to have a pop but do you (or anyone) have any evidence that he actually is getting big money?

What do you class as evidence?
    Bank statements?
What ever he gets paid is too much with this kind of opposition so its mega money considering the minor task ahead
Most boxers and all promoter's talk nonsense so we wont ever really know who gets what in any big fight
    Or small for that matter

Been reported there has been less than 2,000 ticket paid for for the event tonight.

People just aren't interested in seeing Fury fight it seems.
