Great fighter in his prime, but he was shot against Steve Collins. If he’s going to fight again, which seems ridiculous, it would have to be against a fighter of a similar age or he’ll be smashed, possibly by someone who wouldn’t have lived with him in his prime. Tragic end, but that fight against Mclellan was something else and probably ruined him.
Getting in the ring with Bika would be a dumb and potentially very dangerous move, he needs to chill out and realise it's over and has been for 23 years.
Nobody has ever stopped Bika, who last fought two years ago. Does Benn, at 55, really think he's going to outbox him when he hasn't been in the ring for 23 years? Apparently so, maybe he has some fairytale story in his head.
I'm so confused, is he really returning to the ring and fighting Bika?!?! I thought this story was all BS...there are always rumours that the old legends are returning but thankfully most times it don't happen. Times like this I wish my dad was still alive to hear his opinion, he loved Benn was his favourite fighter.
Sakio Bika how old is he must be not much older than 40? I would be seriously worried for Benn if he fought Bika !
Not sure mate, if he ends up passing all the medicals I don't think anyone can stop it. If he is medically passed to fight the BBBoC can't just arbitrarily prevent him from fighting. Maybe they would restrict it to three rounds, heavier gloves or even headguards. I don't think Nigel is skint, in his IFL interviews about his career he always talks about how he was wise and invested in a lot of property. Think he's doing it out of genuine love for the game and whilst I don't advocate a 55 year old fighting a potentially dangerous opponent, I equally cannot begrudge anyone for doing what makes them happy. Not gonna lie, I would watch this, think most here would.
Bika! I called it first! I don’t think bika has been out of the ring long enough. Unless Benn is serious and has been doing 15 rounds of sparring no problem then he’ll get pulled out eventually Also I’m guessing he’s already been cleared to fight by the bbboc otherwise they wouldn’t be announcing this next week right?
He had a great career and I was a fan, bud. I don’t doubt that he’s still very fit and healthy (for a 55 year old) but I’m not convinced that it reflects very well on our sport. There’s nothing to gain from it...apart from his ego getting a massage (and a bit of wedge). Just seems very self indulgent to me.
