This is an excellent point. There are limits to the amount of weight a given fighter can carry and be effective. Weight classes exist for a reason. When did it become a thing that a fighters greatness is judged by how many weight classes he moves up? I fighters ability, heart and competition level show greatness. Not ability to gain weight.
This right here. I get the impression it's newer fans who believe you have to be a multiple weight champion to be great. Not today when there's 4-5 belts per division to go after. Too many of these newbies believe guys move up in weight to "challenge" themselves! I don't think many realize guys tend to move up when: * They can't make weight effectively, or * They lost a fight and have no where to go but move up in weight. But mainly, the whole "He's moving up to challenge himself" is fanboy nonsense.
