It is a stay busy fight whilst he waits for Wilder. The disappointing thing about Tyson Fury is the level of opposition he has faced in his career. His resume is very weak and this kind of fight does nothing for his legacy at all. This is why he deserves criticism for this fight.
Tyson Fury’s fight against Tom Schwarz sold 5,489 tickets with a gate of $882,145 I think this fight will sell less. 3k paid max.
This is the answer to your thread: sold around 1500 tickets. "Tyson Fury vs. Otto Wallin haven’t produced many ticket sales according to Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn for this Saturday’s fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hearn says the Fury-Wallin fight has sold around 1500 tickets, and that “no one is going to watch it.” Hearn believes that Fury’s promoters at Top Rank have made a mistake in putting him in another poor fight."
I'm really struggling to see what the long game is here? Plenty people seem to claim its to build Fury up and promote him before the Wilder fight but if that's the case the experiment isn't working. They are putting him in vs terrible opponents selling no tickets and his profile isn't getting any bigger. You can't just plant someone in Las Vegas and they become a star. People are not stupid and want to watch competitive fights. Fury beating a couple of scrubs does nothing for his profile. Las Vegas is a town with plenty going on all the time. People there have choices of where they will spend their money for entertainment yet top rank seem to think some mismatch will attract fans. It clearly isn't working so again I ask What is the plan here? It's like they saw the Fury getting up vs Wilder clip go viral and seemed to think that's it we've cracked it. Tens of thousand will easily buy tickets for a mismatch due to watching a clip.
It isn't a good fight, should have looked at Ajagba or Martin. I know Fury doesn't want to fight Martin as Joshua demolished him and he might not do the same and look bad, no excuse imo. I'd have even chucked Trey Lippe a fight as that would have sold plenty tickets.
can you imagine, 1500 people in a 20,000 person arena ?!??! hahhaa.. ok ok, lets add another 1000 for comped tickets they gave out.
The arena will be jam packed because many purchased tickets thinking they were going to see a sequel of Pixar's Wall-E. Top rank misleading billboards
