Have a word with yourself pal. Subscribers and ticket sales don’t feature anywhere on my list of importance as a boxing fan. A lot of back seat tv execs on this site. Bizarre
Do you know that Arum is telling porkies? The start of the UFC deal brought in more subscribers than Tyson.
I don't get that network/promoter fanboying, certainly because they're all just out for your money, but what I get from this issue is that a) Hearn is full of sh_t, b) Arum is even more full of sh_t. Even if Fury drove up subscriptions, the question is why and how? His opposition is really bottom of the barrel. Lesser as even Wilder's lowest opposition bar Stiverne II. I know he doesn't have a belt and can basically pick whatever scrub he wants like any other contender, but I can't see why those fights would be on a subscription stream channel or even fakkin PPV! Not many people are that stupid imo.
The logic behind Fury being with Arum is that Arum isn't dumb enough to miss the fact that Joshua v Fury will generate a fortune and he wants some of that cash. Being Fury's promoter is the best way to get a slice. There is no more to 'get.' Fury isn't popular, he isn't selling many tickets, he's not shifting PPV numbers, his opponents are nobodies and I'm incredibly doubtful that he's earning what some are suggesting because the numbers blatantly don't add up.
This. He is WITHOUT DOUBT the worst promoter of the top boys. You will NEVER find a promoter that marinates a fight until it's pointless like Bob does. Look at Crawford, Loma... What are they doing exactly? Boxing will be better off without him, IMHO.
They must be thrilled with an empty arena and 'champion' who can't draw money at the Gate. Every promoters dream.
For anyone in the area it would definitely be worth hanging around the arena and the MGM on the day, they're gonna have to paper the hell out of the place.
My friends staying there were offered 8 complimentary tickets off the hotel because they were English.
Problem is this just shows how hard it is to sell Fury. If you're in Vegas, it's not like he's the only game in town. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if a reasonable number of people offered free tickets to his fight just turned them down.
They did turn them down. They have a table booked at Hakkasan nightclub and paid **** loads for it, the boxing is an inconvenience to them. They’re not boxing fans and it ruins their biggest night of the week but still.
