I started watching Marciano's fights in the middle 1960's.I'm up to speed with him thanks. Marciano looks faster against Louis because Louis is stationary did that never occur to you?
I think if you go back and look for it you wouldn’t be arguing. There really is no comparison. He was without a doubt quicker and more explosive but less skill. Also looked stronger to me as well. Unless old Louis just wasn’t as strong as Charles (pushed around old Louis and young Layne easier then the lighter Charles).
The agenda is obvious. Marciano's noteworthy scalps are put under such a microscope that the sheer number of rounds they fought are being accounted for as "wear and tear." Meanwhile in a grueling busy career fought exclusively at heavyweight that saw a swarmer sustain punishment in almost every fight and retire at a relatively young age, Marciano is being treated as a constant who never declined. In a very thread featuring footage of him against Cokell at the end of his career, where he is obviously not the physical speciman he was in his 20s.
Johnson certainly gives the impression that he has much longer arms than the much shorter Tommy burns on film. He is hitting Burns from a distance that Burns simply cannot reach him. Remember reach is measured as a wingspan rather than armpit to knuckle so having longer arms is more evident during combat. So the wingspan measurement (if that’s even reliable) is not really proof of having longer arms. It just means if you include the breadth of the neck, collar bones and shoulders with that of the arms and fingertips you get that particular measurement. One that has absolutely nothing to do with boxing. It is however the perfect measurement for an unusual one piece jacket with fingered gloves in place of the cuffs. I said that on film the difference in length of arms seems negligible between Johnson and Jeffries. Jim certainly looks no taller. Flynn is outreached on film too. Ketchel is outreached on film. These guys appear to have shorter arms to Johnson in that they can be hit from a distance where they cannot reach Johnson. It is obvious in the films.

He trained accordingly without the dedication for which he was famous.Sparring sessions were called off,he was dropped by Toxie Hall and generally lack lustre which you would ,or at least should know!
