Lloyd was good but he gets a massive boost because of Curry. Curtis was great and fought in a stacked era. Curtis by late ko.
Depends on which version of Honeyghan. If its the Curry version, then he rips Cokes a new one, if its the later version prone to partying and with brittle hands, then probably Cokes.
Without a doubt, Cokes by either a decision or a late round tko. CC was a favorite of mine in the mid to late 60's. i followed his exploits...defense after defense....he was one of those guys that I thought would just go on from defense to defense..and he seemed firmly in charge of the 147 division...until his great misfortune came along in Jose Mantequilla Napoles....a great beating a "very good" fighter. Cokes was a nickel short of being great...and I don't see a relatively front running "fly by night" like Honeyghan troubling him. The fight would have been like an afternoon's fishing trip for Cokes, with him showing great patience and perseverance along the way until he snagged his catch and reeled him in....i.e., a 12th or 13th round tko for Curtis Cokes.
Honeyghan could could show some very good fundamentals at his best. He looked a very good fighter the night he stopped Curry albeit accepting that Curry was probably struggling at the weight. He was very disciplined that night and simply focused on the job at hand. However post Curry he just became a ragged indisciplined fighter who just wanted to rely on his power. This version wouldn’t be much of a problem to Cokes.
True this Honeyghan is overrated by the Curry fight. Don had got the flu Dave Gorman wanted to pull him out so did trainer Paul Reyes, but Akbar Muhammad insisted he fought. Don had to sweat to make weight & was as weak as a kitten That wasnt the real Donald Curry Honeyghan beat. Don made the big mistake of trusting Muhammad & Ray Leonard who were really his downfall. He should have stayed with Dave & Paul
