Monzon stops him later on, probably with a 1975 right hand after accumulated damage.

I'm a fan of Minter, I think he can make it a bit awkward at the start before Monzon takes over.

Monzon was on a different level to Minter and had too much size and reach for Minter and a severe power advantage, Minter was knocked out by Sibson after the Hagler fight by being easy to hit in that fight and the Hagler fight in `80.

I cannot imagine Minter's eyes lasting ten rounds, let alone the Championship distance.

Although I do not agree that Minter would go the distance, I accept there is a reasonable hypothesis for it to happen.

But clean? Monzon would bust open Minter with a dirty look! A further forty five minutes of boxing, and the most unsuitable available word would be clean! ;)

Minter was past it when he fought Sibbo. He wasn't overly hard to find but his chin was excellent.

Monzons power in his prime is underrated imo, but so is Minter's; he could really whack when he planted his feet. Monzon did hit harder but not by a huge amount.

Anyway, Monzon way clear on points or a cuts/facial damage/possible cumulative stoppage. I could see it being competitive through the early to mid rounds with Minter coming forward behind that sometimes awkward but effective southpaw one-two while Monzon tries to establish his range and slowly work Minter out. Minter was a strong ****er too and I don't think he'd be bullied physically. Monzon would probably just eventually keep setting up the angle and booming his right over Minters lead hand over the second half of the fight and possibly cut Alan up or make his corner throw the towel in.

I meant he'd win it clearly, but it would be somewhat competitive

Minter wasn't half bad at his best. He would probably lose by UD if he didn't bleed to death before the end.

Monzon by KO. Minter is the perfect opponent for Monzon.

To be honest, I could see Monzon having a trickier time with Kev Finnegan than Minter, providing Finnegan was fit, focused and didn't cut. He was a very underrated cute technician who could box or brawl but was lazy and inconsistent with fragile skin. He gave Hagler fits twice and was thwarted by cuts from what might have been at least one remarkable win. Monzon would've won still, but I do think Finnegan would've given him a good fight.

I think he and Monzon were actually close to fighting at one point, but Finnegan fecked either his arm or shoulder against Tonna in a Euro title fight, and Tonna got the shot instead and got sparked on the back of his head after turning away from Monzon, the dozy tit.

Minter is better than the rubes Monzon played pattycake with around this time, excepting Valdez, so I bet it ends up a lot closer than Carlos' relatives on this forum would like to believe.

Well, unless Minter's brow falls to pieces...
