Upsets, rematches to settle, poor performances is what the division is treating us to right now. It’s not getting any clearer who exactly is the best of the lot. Who do you think it is?
At present Ruiz. Beat the guy with by far the most impressive resume in the divison. AJ - if he wins the rematch he goes back to number 1. Whyte - has the most impressive win streak resume in the divison, has to be an contender. Wilder - resume is too poor to considered. You can argue there are numerous fighters with a stronger resume. Fury - hasn't beaten a fighter in the top 45 fighter in 4 years. Usyk - i see him schooling everyone who faces him.
The crown is currently vacant. Any of the top 3, plus a couple of dark horses have the potential to become top dog.
I think it is either Ruiz, Joshua or Fury. Objectively it is Ruiz right now, but I am 50/50 on the rematch. I still think Fury has the best shot of being number one right now, but could easily be wrong, guess we will see what happens.
Fury is the man who beat the man. Plus, according to the majority of the boxing community, he also beat Wilder. These 2 accomplishments make him the current best, until someone proves otherwise. AJ had a case, until he lost to Ruiz. Right now, he's going to fight for the 3rd place behind Fury and Wilder. So at the moment it's: 1- Fury 2- Wilder 3- Ruiz 4- AJ
Boxrec don't, look at his resume. His second best win is a decision over Zumbano Love. This fight showed just how poor Fury is now rather than Wallin being any good.
This may be a controversial opinion but I honestly don't know right now. There's some right polarised cretins on this board saying X is great, Y is a bum... None of them are ATGs, all of them have good points and weak spots. I'm just trying to enjoy the unpredictability and competitiveness of the division at the moment.
