On exactly the one year anniversary of his loss to Jeff Horn, the former Australian king of PPV is returning to action on the Gold Coast. He dug up the corpse of a guy that last fought (in this sport) in 2003 in a loss to Sakio Bika. Parr's main bag is kickboxing, from which he also retired at one point but made a comeback in 2013 and has remained active since. Catchweight of 75kg (~165lb).
It is a novelty fight between two guys over 40 both are irrelevant in the current boxing scene. I have no problem with this. JWP deserves a good pay day. Also I wouldn't call JWP a corpse he has been active in Muai Thai.
JWP is always fit and importantly he is fight fit. Having done the hard work to get down to the weight for his recent kickboxing fight. Even at his physical best he is tailor made for Mundine though. Just to rigid and bothered by a good jab. He was power was real back in the day though. Choc's punch resistance is gone but may improve slightly moving up in weight.
Parr just has to tap Mundine on the top of the head for a ko win... TBH I don;t know much (anything) about him other than he is a kick boxer so if he can tap Mundine's head is anyone's guess.. If Mundine does lose this I can see him touring the Northern Territory in one of those boxing tents inviting locals to try their luck against him for $20.. I don't think he will ever retire..
I watched a documentary on parr, he seems like a really decent guy. I feel like Mundine has never gotten the respect he is owed from Australia. This is pretty much a exhibition fight, no one will get knocked out or hurt. Who cares, just let the old men fight
Got chocolate by decision in this one, only just though, 75kg should keep him upright to see the bell, in saying that it's not out of the question for parr to win by Ko or by outworking chocolate, parr was and prob still is a beast . Will be interesting to see what 75kg chocolate looks like these days.
@IntentionalButt Jesus, Mundine is still going? I can't stand him, his style is total trash for watching. Basically a negative spoiler with a desire to do pretty much nothing except make you look discombobulated and awkward. Then he totally forgets to you know actually hit the other guy hard because he's so worried about showing how awesome his "defense" is. Please. I remember watching Mundine Kessler in Australia. The biased Aussies in the commentary were perplexed by the 120-108 score on one card and how for the life of them they couldn't understand how it wasn't more of a 115-113 score for Kessler. I'll tell you, a shutout for Kessler is far closer to the proper score than 115-113 type of fight. That's for sure. Mundine basically mucked up the entire fight. If it was a close round that could have gone either way the Aussie commentary was over the top going, "Beautiful Mundine round what a round by Mundine definitely give it to Mundine." If it was a round that Kessler solidly won, but didn't bash him with multiple flush power shots??? These idiots are yapping with a straight face, "Oh man what a close round, I'm going to have to give that a 10-10 round". These guys were so biased they were breaking out the rare 10-10 round multiple times because Kessler didn't bash him from pillar to post, instead he just thoroughly controlled the spirit of the round. Please, Mundine go away.
I saw a clip of Mundine sparring and it didn't look good. JWP by KO wouldn't surprise me but still picking Mundine on points.
I think Parr will knock him out he will catch him eventually Im as confident with this pick as I was with Zerafa to ko Horn hope my luck continues
