(Furious) - Boxrec are an independent body, similar to the BHA who give official ratings to horses and we do need a ratings system to have some idea of who is where. The problem with the eyes is that our senses are very easily influenced and tricked. Perhaps Tyson has regressed or fought the wrong fight and Wallin may be a bit better than we thought, however that is all guesswork.
Boxrec is terrible, it had Jeff Horn the 5th best middleweight in the world before his fight with Zefera lol, you can't do rankings based on a computer algorithm.
That will always happen and we can pick out plenty, but as an indicator of who is where, it's pretty good. No one was giving Wallin much of any chance prior to the fight, but he's caused plenty of damage.
No it's not a good indicator because the margin of error is too big, there isn't enough data on Wallin to determine where he ranks based on an algorithm.
That's all fine but I am just saying that Boxrec scores and rankings are just their opinion using an algorithm. Doesn't really mean much; you were talking as if it was significant.
One thing is for sure, everyone knows who Otto Wallin is and what he's about now, I don't think there'll be too many of the big guns wanting that smoke just yet.
Spot on, great insight particularly re the old man. A bit of "direction" too from Arum no doubt in the build-up.
people are completely missing the point. The reason he went on the attack trying to get Wallin out of there was because if the fight was stopped he was due to loose by TKO. His corner were told by ESPN that the ref had ruled it a punch. He adapted to the situation in front of him he always does.
Watched this a few days ago and Teddy was critical of how the cut was treated. He was saying the meds / coagulant needed to be applied, then the vaseline holds it in. He accused the cutman of just shoving a big glob of vaseline in there. How would he know what the cutman did, given he had the same view as everyone else, or was he correct? This content is protected
Ouch! But the purses weren't that high for this card. Still, this doesn't look good for the guy that's supposedly conquering the US, according to his fans and Bob "yesterday I lied, today I'm telling the truth" Arum.
I wonder how long Fury lasts in the US after the Wilder fight... Nobody is surprised fights like this didn't sell. A rematch right away after the first would've done good enough numbers as the whole event went viral afterwards... If Fury really is making tens of millions for fights like these then good on him but someone is losing big money and hoping the Wilder fight does huge numbers plus Fury wins which isn't a given.
