Is Tony's hatred of Tyson stronger than Aydamns Love of Whyte?

This is not a good look, the genuine dislike of someone you don't know is pretty clear in this post.

We all know Fury is inconsistent and a hypocrite. I feel though that as humans we should try to give people the benefit of the doubt over things like suicide and mental health. It's basic compassion.

It's a big step for Fury to discuss these things given his background, in his culture - it wouldn't be understood very easily. Tyson has alluded to this already.

I'm not going to look for it, but in several interviews he has talked about being treated. He went with John Fury - it might be the Joe Rogan interview late last year where he discussed it. I wouldn't expect you to have watched them though, seeing as you clearly dislike the guy.

I don't really know what you're expecting really, to know exactly who and when he saw for councilling?!

Except he used to speak about it and show tell-tale signs long before that happened, but i suppose we're ignoring that.

How do you know it was self-diagnosed, you have access to his medical records?

It all just seems too good to be true. Plenty of people have spoken about feeling positive, feeling down, feeling depressed and so on. That doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill. Joshua has spoken about similar things, but if he suddenly became very ill just at the same time he got busted for being a drug cheat I’d be suspicious.

Maybe I’m too cynical, but Tyson lies about retirement, lies about venues, lies about comeback dates, lies about donating his purses. He comes out with garbage all the time. We all laugh now at the idea of him failing tests because he ate too much boar meat as it’s such a feeble excuse. Yet in the midst of all these lies we’re supposed to just accept he’s mentally ill? I don’t.

Your final point is relevant here. Many people who have suffered from mental health problems are very keen to talk about the help they received, who they spoke to, the organisations who helped them and so on. An actual mental health ambassador would be singing their praises.

Instead from Tyson we have nothing. He pretty much just seems to say ‘I was in a really bad place, I didn’t want to live, I was going to sleep hoping I didn’t wake up, but now I’m back in love with boxing and it’s great.’

It just doesn’t sound particularly convincing.

You keep saying in the midst, as if it wasn't going on before.

Do you not understand how years of battling with mental health issues, finally achieving everything you've ever wanted, at such a young age, at something you've dedicated your entire life to, can be a major catalyst towards an implosion?

How people decide to talk about their mental health issues is their prerogative. There's no right or wrong way.

You may not be convinced, that's ok - but why not just give him the benefit of the doubt? I know you'll point to him being a hypocrite or being inconsistent throughout his career - but as I said before, considering his background, talking about these issues takes guts and it's not something he'd randomly lie about.

I think the crux of it is - you don't like Fury, and the mental health issues are an inconvenient explanation (for you) which explains some of his behaviour over the years. You'd rather just believe he's a scumbag who lies about everything because it suits your agenda.

Of course there are ways to approach mental illness. What I find so surprising from Fury, if indeed he is this genuine mental health ambassador, is the total lack of help he's able to offer. All he seems to mention is that he was depressed, and suicidal, so he did a bit of training, fell back in love with boxing, and that's that. No 'speak with MIND, or call the Samaritans,' or any real practical help. That seems odd to me.

I obviously don't like Fury, but part of the reason for that is because I genuinely believe he's used mental health as a distraction/excuse from/for the fact that he's a drug cheat, in a sport which I believe should have an absolutely fundamental zero-tolerance policy towards drug cheats.

Or maybe he doesnt feel the need to share something that is private, just so he can enrage "You" even further.

It's a personality disorder if anything. They CLAIM to be suicidal and seek attention.

He didn't magically go from suicidal to on top of the world out the blue with no medication. It's quite simply BS.
