5 days ago Allen posted a pic of his face after the David Price fight, Allen put "This was 6 weeks ago and in 6 weeks time I fight again. In a generation of unbeaten records and fighting twice a year I'm a throwback....... " Today had pulled out of the October 19th date.

I'm not really sure how fighting predominantly nobody's and shot fighters makes you a throwback but maybe someone has had a word in his ear. He says today that he's not feeling right etc, personally I think it's time for him to call it a day. If he can't get motivated to fight on TV, if he can't get in the frame of mind to do it, give the opportunity to someone who can.

I’m just happy he’s (or someone around him hs) had the decency to pull him out. You can’t keep fighting when your mentally unstable.

Dave Allen has deleted his Twitter account following a shocking revelation on his mental state.

Allen, who is due to return to the ring in Newcastle next month, responded to a question with a mention of suicide.

“Always have an urge to blow my own brains out. It’s like an itch I’m too cowardly to scratch,” Allen stated.

He's obviously in need of a bit of help. Not his biggest fan inside or outside the ring but wish him all the best.

Hopefully he doesn't get thrown in with anyone with a pulse who can punch again as his ability to absorb a shot will have ramifications in a few years time

I think the Price defeat has brought all this on massively, especially the nature in which he lost. Allen seemed supremely confident and seemed to be dreaming of bigger things, as were his fans. Povetkin was being mentioned, possible title shots on the horizon, there was even talk of him sharing a ring with Anthony Joshua, it was like he just needed to get past Price and the World was his. Obviously even a brutal KO win for him over Price wouldn't have meant that but he was built up so much by Sky, social media and his fans that there's no doubting that it went to a character like Allen's head. Now he's back down to domestic level realising that the next few fights on offer are the likes of Tom Little, Kash Ali and Kamil Sokolowski or unknown Eastern Europeans. Howe has retired, so has Dallas, Lenroy Thomas is probably back frying chicken now as we haven't seen him since Joe Joyce showed Allen how it was done back in May last year. It's not exactly looking bleak for Allen, a limited but spirited fighter who has probably earned more from boxing than his ability should have allowed him to, there's still fights to be had and money to be made, it's just that the chance of big fights ended when David Price repeatedly punched him in the face until he could take no more.

Strange how he seemed so up for the fight then didn't try and throw any punches or slip the jab at all once it started.

I'm actually delighted he lost as there was talk of Povetkin after.

I'd argue you should take Hearns license if that fight was made

Handed over his Instagram to the young kid he’s training with. Was also at the races the other week- can’t imagine he’s in a good place

Roadman David Price really did do one hell of a demolition job on Dave. Possibly retired him from the sport, ended his social media career too. Probably took his girl as well. Then wanked off the entire O2.

Yup, that Price defeat has absolutely smashed him to smithereens, that's what happens when someone is built up so much that they begin to believe all the hype. I would say the World can be a cruel place but Allen has done fantastically well out of this sport, he's just got to get the right kind of help and get his head screwed on.

Yeah, when he was talking about being a few fights away from AJ that was when his delusion was the highest.

Hadn’t seen that tweet/noticed he’d deleted Twitter! Not a fan of the bloke anymore but it’s all very sad. Let’s hope he’s pulled out of that card next month for his own good, he’s clearly not very well
