Fury schooled Wilder but he didn't take many chances. He didn't make Wilder pay. No way Whyte vs Wilder goes the distance.
I agree KingKO - Whyte would dominate the early rounds being that he is a better boxer but he hasn't got the chin to go the distance with Wilder. Whyte might have to re-earn his shot yet again .. has anyone heard about him since this drugs test fiasco?
Just no way Wilder can handle the punishment Whyte would put on his midsection, there is no human way. Simple physics bro. Wilder is a thin mofo on his mid section, he cannot take Whyte's power. Rivas is a colombian kingpin van damme gangster tough, built like Arnold Schwarzenegger and he was in serious pain from the body shots and he is a stocky 240 at 6 foot. Ribgage encased in reinforced dense muscle fibre, three layers. Whyte would eff Wilder up and turn him into Alabama soup. Whyte is an excellent counter puncher, he will make Wilder pay on every exxchange, it is his natural ability.
Well, you may have to wait eight years for that, given that Whyte apparently failed his PED test and it's his second offense. But we'll see.
What exactly Whyte has that might trouble Wilder? I just don't see it. Whyte has - no consistent jab - no footwork to create angles, he's slow and flat footed - a bad defence, he got hit clean and dropped by Parker and Rivas, the two best opponents he faced yet apart from that Joshua KO loss - a poor gas tank aswell (Rivas gas tank was even worse + the swollen eye and Parker just too dumb to stop him in that last round). Guys like Ortiz and Fury have the footwork, they have the jab and they have better defence as long as they use the jab and the footwork to maintain distance. Therefore they did very well with Wilder. I can't see Whyte doing the same. He just doesn't have the skills to do so. Ortiz did the mistake he was standing in front of Wilder trading with him, then got dropped and gassed later on after he went all out in R7+8. Fury beat him clearly but got reckless and dropped in that ninth round after showboating. Without that first ear shot KD he would have won the fight on two cards. Those were individual mistakes after both doing very well. Ortiz IMO was leading and winning although the judges had Wilder up 1 pt, and Fury...yeah Fury definitely won that fight but the first KD was dumb one and not necessary. Wilder beats Whyte via brutal KO in mid rounds IMO or late with an even more brutal punch vs. a gassing Whyte. I don't see Whyte winning anything vs. Wilder apart from some big bad headache and maybe a visit in the hospital.
He might not beat him but the fight will be better. Fury vs Wilder wasn't really a good fight. What made it somewhat exciting is the suspense of whether Wilder would finally land something. Aside from that, it was Wilder looking bad throwing wild punches and being off balance and Fury landing a few punches here and there but never trying to really capitalize on Wilder's mistakes. Rematch will look very similar.
Wilder wins easily. I was a wilder doubter for a long time as his textbook boxing is pretty poor but ive grown to appreciate him for his unique style and approach. I think he can beat anyone around at the moment as the division really is weak and everyone in it has gaping holes. A world class heavyweight with enough height, very good textbook boxing, very good speed and power and good enough stamina would be a problem for Wilder. If Joshua had a good chin, bit better defence and good stamina he would be a horrible fight for Wilder but he doesnt have those attributes. Fury would be terrible for wilder if he had good power but he doesnt, ruiz would be a nightmare if he was 3 inches taller and a bit faster on his feet but he isnt. See where im going? Wilder has plenty of flaws but hes in the perfect era to get away with them. I think Parker if he had his head screwed on right might be his worst possible opponent right now stylistically Maybe one of these up and comers will get to him but i dont think it will be any current established heavyweight.
Whyte all day long. Whyte isn't feather-fisted Fury or Brazeale and he'd be doubled-over after some severe body punches.
This is boxing. Clash of styles. And you can't really blame Fury for fighting like that. If you fight Wilder in much different way you will get KTFO. Like all other guys were KTFO. Fury was smart. He probably could have done more from time to time but overall he fought a tactically perfect fight with some bad moments where he lost the plot like in the ninth round showboating and getting dropped.
