I don't know if you ever read the best I've faced on Ring website. They always name someone they have beat as most skilled/hardest puncher while making excuses about the fights they lost
Ruiz hit him harder than Wlad did after he was hurt though. Wlad gave him 4/5 rounds to recover when he was there for the taking
Reminds me of when Shannon Briggs said Vitali was the hardest puncher he ever faced yet Vitali couldn’t drop him, when others did
Boxer doesn't give credit to an opponent that battered them around the ring and had them on ***** street all night. Shocker.
Let me explain this to you kids. Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson. Razor Ruddock couldn't knock Tyson down. So does that mean Douglas is a harder puncher than Razor? Evander Holyfield was able to stun Foreman yet Tommy Morrison couldn't phase Foreman was his punches. Do you think Evander hit/hits harder than Tommy Morrison? Some boxers are much more accurate with their punches and or are better at putting punches together. The reason Ruiz knocked out AJ while Wlad didn't was because Wlad landed one good right hand and afraid to jump on AJ and let him off the hook. Ruiz didn't let Joshua off the hook and landed numerous punches to finally stop AJ.
I agree with you on that. Lennox Lewis fought a prime in shape Briggs and knocked him down 2 or 3 times. Vitali landed 1 million punches on a much older fat Briggs and couldn't drop or stop him.
I think some of it may come from their “perception” of the power they’ve been hit with, more so than how much power is actually behind it and as has been said, the accuracy and accumulation of punches play the biggest factor One shot that drops an opponent like a rock( but he manages to get up) won’t be “perceived” as being as hard as a combination of three or four shots that knocked him OUT
Yeah, that's a bunch of BS. Vitali doesn't hit as hard as Lennox. Lennox just shut Briggs nervous system down so he couldn't feel anything.
Exactly. It's actually impossible to gauge how hard someone hits you if they're hitting you hard enough to shut your brainstem down. I don't get why people don't understand this simple point more often.
Yeah, same situation with Holmes vs Tyson. Tyson knocked him unconscious and dribbling on the canvas. Surprise, surprise, Holmes labels Shavers as the hardest puncher he went in with.
More importantly, which fighters of any level did he one-punch flatline the way Tyson, Tua and other truly monstrous punchers did? Earnie Shavers was a TKO clubber. His speciality was bludgeoning you against the ropes until you couldn't take anymore or he gassed himself out.
