I think he would have got beat as soon as he entertained TOP fighters and after 2 or 3 significant loses against the like, he would have dissolved into club fighter type bouts.
He would fit in well IMO, and be highly ranked. I think he loses to peak Frazier and Ali, and would struggle with skilled, squat speedy fighters.
Hed be the best contender of the period. Perhaps better than Norton too. A notch below Frazier, Ali and Foreman.
Depends on his mind set, I don’t see why he couldn’t beat Ali, especially towards the later years, but his stay at the top could be very short because his mental fragility.
That s the sticking point with Fury, his mental state. I don't doubt he has heart, he's proven that. But he couldn't afford to take time out, blow up massive, and then take on guys like Ali, Foreman and Frazier. Against a Foreman or smoke, he'd be wrecked by em. A very hard Era to hang in back then.
Maybe it's me but I feel the trio of Wilder/Fury/Joshua are really no big deals at all .. I see all three losing decisively to Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield and either Kilitshko in their primes ...
So the fraud Fury went 12 with a clubfighter who Mike Tyson would have ko'ed quickly in his Pro debut...... Threw 5.421 punches against a shot to shid WK in probably the worst fight of the century.... Threw 3.12 punches a round while landing nothing but air, got busted up in the process and his frantic nut huggers believe sticking out your tongue and raising your arms wins rounds while getting the Refs help to survive the 12th against Wilder to get a gift draw... Frazier, Foreman, Lyle and Quarry would walk right thru that Pillow fist and Ali puts him in a 2 punches a round shell over 15 ..... In the 80/90's Tyson folds him in half and Bowe would maul him worse that Gonzales.... But he is in good company, The Heavyweight fraught of the decade Pinky Toe Haye and the Quitter Bodybuilder are all similar frauds and Hype jobs. The current Heavyweights are poor beyond poor and if a limited guy like Wilder most likely will come out on top is further evidence to that.
Agree...Lyle would have stopped him and Jimmy Young would have outboxed him. He doesnt belong mentioned with the likes of Ali Holmes ect
You’re blinded by the 70s era if you seriously think Quarry, Young or Lyle beats Fury when he’s at his peak.
that's the point we're not blind, we can clearly see the level of difference from then, before and compared to now.
