Crolla is on the undercard at Manchester Arena as a last fight. How often has a fighter gone into a fight advertised as his last and isn't for a belt or revenge of some sort?

Has it actually been confirmed anywhere that it’s a farewell fight? Seems a strange one. Wonder who the opponent will be

Think its on Mathrooms twitter as well as Katie Taylor being on the bill - correct decision from Crolla i think. Can think of loads that have finished against an opponent with no prior connection.

I do remember Ant saying, "one last fight" a couple of month ago. Maybe this is it then. Go out on a win. It's the right thing to do and probably the best way to do it. At least it gives him time to prepare, leaving the sport. Many a fighter has gone to pot because they didn't have anything to be involved with when they departed from boxing. Ant has made some decent money and he's such a nice guy I'm sure he's built a network up of good people, Up and down the country. He's been a credit to the sport. He's also one of the last from that generation, burns is left and maybe the Walsh's,If you have them from that era. I do.

Going into the fight? It's a rare thing these days isn't it. He's not even the headline act.

I think we have to recognize other than for a very brief period of time Crolla was never an A lister if you will. Hopkins fought Smith as Final one but he headlined as he was an ATG. Maybe it's also a sign on the level of the expected opponent?

Stick him in with Coyle then let them both retire. Actually a competitive fight and nothing has to be at stake

there is no room for farewell fights in boxthing. you put your life on the line every time you step in the ring. going into a fight believing it will bbe your last is a dangerous mentality

There is for Coyle, have you heard him talk? The guy sounds like a mess, he should retire, now. It would have been a great fight 3 years ago though.

With the number of comebacks we see in this sport I’ll take a “farewell fight” with a pinch of salt. Means nothing to me at all.

I agree but I have a feeling it will be someone like Marvin Petit or Bryan Vasquez

Haven't paid much attention to him speaking in truth, he has been saying he has another fight in him though I think. I see Matthews hint at 'one more' and I suspect that's what they'll go for

It's really bad, he just loves fighting, which I don't think is a good thing, his style never going to age well.
