Because Kovalev won the first fight and lost the second via bull**** stoppage. Ward’s fans couldn’t handle it and so the “Ward schooled that drunk” comments were born. It’s typical around here to use smearing tactics against those robbed of a fair fight/decision.
First of all Kov didnt have the right mindset going in to the rematch and this was pointed out before the fight. Secondly, you can make an easy case that on neutral ground Ward would have been DQ or at least deducted points in a fight that was even on the cards. So let's not make it out to be the greatest win in history.

I notice that you wrote "Kov was not in the right mindset" why on earth is this the only fight when Kov isnt in the right mindset...and noone makes the observation that "kovs not in the right mindset" for any of his other fights? is it just some bizarre coincidence, a 1 in 100th chance?
actually you have it the other way round - an excuse is used to explain a loss, by calling him an alcoholic, therefore he lost. If people supporting ward call kov a drunk, it has no bearing as an excuse for this thread, because it argues the wrong way. u r 100% wrong to write that here.
If was never used as an excuse, it was an attack on Kovalev's character by the usual suspects. After he lost, there was an opportunity to pile on more attacks, the idea being he was not only exposed but also a man of terrible vices and character, a true monster.
it matters not, kov will krush this impudent dwarf like azog crushed thrain, then noone will call him drunk.
